MYANMAR: The New Life Student Centre

The New Life Student Centre (NLSC) in North Dagon, Myanmar, was established in 1999 by Thangno. He had just completed 3½ years of study at Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC). He also got married that same year. An orphan himself, Thangno was moved by the Christian charity he received, and felt called to start an orphanage. Today, Thangno’s orphanage is referred to as a “student centre” to better align with its main mission.

NLSC accepts orphans and children from very poor or broken families and gives them a roof over their head. Thangno and his wife also take care of the children’s spiritual well-being. Daily devotions, prayers, Bible study, and Sunday worship services are part of the lives of the children at NLSC.

True Life BPC and other like-minded Bible-Presbyterian churches in Singapore take turns to conduct Vacation Bible School for the children in NLSC. By the grace of God, the children there continue to thrive academically, physically and spiritually.
