YPF CAMP 2015

Report by Joshua Chan

The True Life Young People’s Fellowship held its annual camp from the 20th to the 23rd of December at Resort Lautan Biru, Mersing. A total of 73 campers attended the camp, which included parents and speakers. The bulk of the campers travelled by coach and we arrived safely at the resort at 4.45 pm.

The camp’s theme was “Remember Now Thy Creator” taken from the camp’s theme verse, Ecclesiastes 12:1. Our Pastor, Rev Jeffrey Khoo, was the speaker for our theme messages. Preaching twice daily, he exhorted us (1) to remember now our Creator, (2) on the privileges of being born into a Christian home, (3) to flee youthful lusts, (4) to clean up our lives from sin, (5) to honour our parents, and (6) on how to find a spouse. Bro Zhu Jianwei spoke to us on the topic of holiness during the morning devotions. During which, he shed light on (1) the meaning of holiness, (2) the reasons for holiness, and (3) the means to holiness.

After the theme messages each day, the campers would break into their respective groups for a time of group discussion, which would last for an hour.

Activities were organized for the afternoons. On Monday afternoon, a workshop on “School Life” was conducted by Pastor. He exhorted us on how we ought to remember and honour God in all areas of our student life. A time of group discussion ensued after the exhortation, where the campers discussed on some real life examples which they would be likely to face, as well as the right approach to each situation. This was followed by a round up by pastor. On Tuesday afternoon, we had a time of Bible games. The afternoons were kept free for the parents and they took the opportunity to fellowship, rest, and to visit the nearby shopping centre.

Tuesday night was devoted to the giving of testimonies by the campers. Each camper gave thanks to God for what they had learnt and shared how God has been so gracious and merciful to them. This was followed by a special supper, where tarts and kuehs were provided.

We had a Question and Answer segment on the final day of camp, where Pastor had to answer a flurry of questions. As a fitting end to camp, a thanksgiving offering was collected and given to the resort.

We left the resort at 1.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, and arrived at FEBC at 5 pm after a smooth three and a half hour journey. God has indeed blessed us with another wonderful and blessed YPF camp. I thank God for His protection upon every camper, and for granting us journey mercies. Despite reports of heavy traffic along the Causeway, God has been good to help us avoid the jam, and has given us a smooth journey to and fro.

May God help each camper to remember Him in these last days and to live holy lives for His glory. All praise and glory be to God.

MISSIONARY GREETINGS

Bai Eun Young (Kenya)

Dear Dr. Khoo,

Well, I guess I am a bit late to say happy new year. But I wish you a blessed new year and all the best in His love. I was away for sometime where there was no internet access. Now when I am back, I write this.

Thank you for your love and care for mission field in Kenya. Though there were challenges here and there, it is my honor to be in this field and witness His work.

I am thankful for your support and prayer. BCEA students are doing well and 16 students graduated last November. Many of them went back to their home churches to serve there. Soon new term will begin and I hope many will join for theological training.

May His love be with you, your family, and your ministry in this year 2016.

In Christ,

Bai, Eun Young

Dear Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo

Greetings to you and True Life Church once again in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hope and believe that the Lord has done great things in the last year 2015.

(1) We are very thankful to the Lord in many ways for what He has done for us and His ministries in Phnom Penh. The church members start to be stronger in the grace, strength and knowledge of our Lord Jesus. The members are having more zeal for the Lord and His Mission.

(2) The Lord has blessed us in the VBS Camp recently. It was a time when many kids had a chance to get to know God more, to do art and craft as a team, to spend more time to get to know each other better.

(3) Evangelism training for our youth leaders with practice was conducted so that they can know how to share their faith to our people around our areas. They now start to have more confidence to defend their faith and to proclaim the Good News to many people.

(4) We had a one-day seminar for the non-believing youths so that they would have a chance to ask questions concerning salvation, God, heaven and hell etc.

(5) By His grace, the Lord has blessed us with Christmas celebrations on three occasions this year, one for the Sunday School, a second in the village, and the last in the church. We thank Him for all the hard work of each and every active church member and for His provision for all the needs.

(6) We also thank Him that He opened another door for English Service for the first time in our church yesterday. Though, there were not so many people attending, yet we pray and hope that the Lord will bring more souls into His flock.

We thank God for your encouragement, prayers and your designated love gifts as well. All glory and praises be to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please do keep praying for our Lord’s work in Cambodia and our family too that we do not worry too much about financial parts but just focus on the work of the Lord. We keep you, your family members and work in our prayers too.

Happy New Year 2016.

With many thanks,

Sun Sokha and family

Dear Pastor Jeffrey,

Greeting you in the blessed name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Pastor I repeat again and again to the children on every Christmas day that Jesus was born into the world to save us from our sin and to give eternal life to those who believe in Him. Many people celebrate Christmas in many ways but we celebrate to know Him well. He is Saviour and we need to receive Him as our Saviour and Lord. After we receive Him we need to live for His will and whatever we do only for His glory.

Pastor, we NLOC would like to give our thanks to the Lord and to True Life BP Church because of the Lord’s grace, mercy, goodness and your prayers, love and love gifts, we all here are fine and doing well till today.

Really God’s grace and goodness is sufficient to all of us here because He gives us good health, strength and good mind and guides us by His words (the Bible) to walk in the right way and to be faithful in Him in our daily lives. How good our God to us all the time, to praise the Lord and glorify His name forever.

As we faithfully serve Him, may He be pleased to lead us to trust in Him more and to obey His words according to His will for His glory.

I and my family and all the children always pray for you and for True Life BPC & FEBC without ceasing. We are so happy and thankful to the Lord and to True Life BP Church always.

Yours in Christ,

Brother Thang No
