Young People’s Fellowship 2012

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Col 3:1-2).

The Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) is a ministry of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church. The YPF ministers to young people ranging from primary school students to young adults. 2 Timothy 2:2 says, “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” Hence, by the grace of God, the YPF seeks to be a faithful and teaching fellowship where “iron sharpeneth iron” (Prov 27:17).

The allure and attraction of the world is very strong. Knowing that these days are the end-times, the evil one is working doubly hard to draw young people away from living God-fearing lives according to the Scriptures. How many of our youths who attend church, sing hymns and quote Scripture, can sincerely say they really love the Lord and are willing to deny the lusts of the flesh and follow the Lord Jesus Christ?

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Col 3:1-2). If we are indeed God’s children purchased by the blood of Christ, we must follow the Lord’s command: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matt 6:19-21).

The Lord has provided a fellowship of young people in True Life to study the Word of God together and to encourage them to love God. Through studying God’s Word, we learn more about God’s love and holiness and this can only strengthen our resolve to love Him more. Through Christian fellowship, we encourage all to testify for the Lord and pray for one another. There is a need to focus on God’s goodness and grace, even in times of trials and tribulations. “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them” (Eccl 12:1).

This year, God-willing, Pastor Jeffrey Khoo will lead us in the study of Colossians. This is an apt follow-up to the YPF Camp 2011 with the camp theme “Is God First in My Life?”. In addition, Bro Clement Chew will continue to guide us through the book of Ephesians, where we learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ. Apart from the study of the books of the Bible, we have a series of messages on practical issues young people face day to day (eg “Motivation for Godly Living”, “Daily Quality Time with God”, “Our Christian Testimony at Home”, “The Christian and Social Media” and many more). Having also been thoroughly blessed through the searching of the Scriptures together with Berean BPC, our monthly YPF combined Bible study meetings with them will continue to be a regular YPF feature.

Come and join us in the YPF! As we dig deep into God’s Holy Scriptures, may the Lord use His Word to help us live a consecrated and holy life for our loving Saviour who gave Himself for us and shed His precious blood to pay the price of our sin.

Take the world but give me Jesus,
All its joys are but a name;
But His love abideth ever,
Through eternal years the same.
O the height and depth of mercy!
O the length and breadth of love!
O the fullness of redemption, Pledge of endless life above!

Testimonies of YPFers

Yumi Nakajima

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Tim 2:15)

Truly, I thank the Lord for providing for the youths in True Life BPC – a fellowship group that we can attend to study God’s Word every Saturday. It is truly a joy and privilege to be able to come together to study God’s word together week after week without fail! Through all the years of attending the YPF, I have gained and learnt so much and am really blessed by the teaching of faithful speakers like Pastor Khoo, Rev Quek and others,  especially  on  all  the  interesting doctrines that were taught!

It is my earnest prayer that the Lord will continue to sustain the YPF and to help her to remain faithful until the end because it is indeed very important for the youths to be firmly grounded in the Word of God in this dark age!

All praise and Glory be unto God!

“I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.” (Ps 89:1)

God’s promises towards His people never fail. The Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) has truly witnessed God’s abundant blessings through these past years.

I thank God for the ministry of the YPF. Every Saturday, the Word of God is faithfully and fearfully preached. Pertinent issues relevant to young people are discussed in relation to the Bible in order for us to apply it to our individual walk with the Lord.

The YPF also provides a place for like- minded Christian friends to gather and encourage each other in the Lord. I have been deeply blessed by the monthly Prayer and Thanksgiving sessions where we come together to share our thanksgivings, problems and prayer requests. What I treasure most is that through the sharing of our struggles and thanksgivings, the focus is always brought back to the Lord.

Even as the Lord has always been faithful to the YPF, I pray that the YPF will always remain faithful to His Name. All glory be to God!

I have been blessed by the Young People’s Fellowship (YPF) ever since I actively attended their meetings in recent months. Through the faithful preaching of God’s Word, I have learnt more about Jesus’ Second Coming and how I should be a better Christian even as we look forward to His arrival. Through the discussions and sharing sessions, I have been able to serve the Lord better by His grace, through small areas such as praying and caring for one another. Indeed, the YPF has brought many of the teenagers closer together. I have also been deeply encouraged by the brethren who attend the YPF meetings regularly. This year being the year of my ‘A’ Levels, having such close fellowship with people of the same faith has brought me immense comfort during my difficult times.

2012 will bring about its own difficulties but it is my prayer that the YPF will continue to stay strong and its members will persevere on in serving the Lord zealously. May we all continue to seek the Lord in all that we do and run the race for His glory.

Truly, I thank God that I am able to attend the Young People’s Fellowship (YPF). I have been much blessed by the study of the book of Ephesians under bro Clement and have learnt lessons taught by Pastor Jeffrey Khoo regarding the “end times”.

We also had discussion sessions where we would discuss about the sermon preached and how to apply God’s Word to our life and prayer sessions whereby we pray for one another. I thank God for these discussion and prayer sessions because I have been encouraged by the sharing of my group members. I thank God for the YPF.

Thank God for another blessed year of being a part of the Young People’s Fellowship (YPF). Truly, it has been a very blessed time to learn God’s Word, serve Him and fellowship with other like-minded brethren every Saturday afternoon.

I have been blessed by every message, by the faithful preachers that come. One of the most precious series of messages was that on the end times, which allowed me to gain a better understanding of the prophesies which are to come. This has challenged me to live a life which is pleasing to God, to be “stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Cor 15:58). I am thankful for the combined YPF Bible studies which we have together with Berean BP Church every month, for they have been very blessed and have challenged me in my daily life to bear a good Christian testimony, to be humble and to give thanks to God for everything that He gives.

The fellowship that I’ve experienced is one that is very fruitful too, and for that, I am grateful to God. The group sharing sessions and discussions have allowed me to share my burdens with others, and it is very blessed to pray for one another and to know that you are kept in prayer by other YPFers.

May the YPF of True Life BPC be a Word-centred fellowship, a praying fellowship, a reaching-out fellowship, and a fellowship that glorifies God. It is my prayer that the YPFers will benefit much and practise what has been taught from the Scriptures. All praise and glory be to His Name. Amen.

Our Young People Believe in the Perfection of God’s Word

We believe in the divine, Verbal Plenary Inspiration (Autographs) and Verbal Plenary Preservation (Apographs) of the Scriptures in the original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and as the perfect Word of God, the supreme and final authority in faith and life (2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 1:20-21, Ps 12:6-7, Matt 5:18, 24:35).

We believe the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament underlying the Authorised (King James) Version to be the very Word of God, infallible and inerrant.

We uphold the Authorised (King James) Version to be the Word of God—the best, most faithful, most accurate, most beautiful translation of the Bible in the English language, and do employ it alone as our primary scriptural text in the public reading, preaching, and teaching of the English Bible.

The senior members of the YPF shall affirm their allegiance to the Word of God by taking the Dean Burgon Oath at every anniversary: “I swear in the Name of the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit that I believe ‘the Bible is none other than the voice of Him that sitteth upon the throne. Every book of it, every chapter of it, every verse of it, every word of it, every syllable of it, every letter of it, is the direct utterance of the Most High. The Bible is none other than the Word of God, not some part of it more, some part of it less, but all alike the utterance of Him that sitteth upon the throne, faultless, unerring, supreme.’ So, help me God.”
