YOUNG PEOPLE’S FELLOWSHIP

We praise and thank the Lord for sustaining His YPF ministry these past 11 years. Over the years, our main YPF verse has remained the same: “Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them” (Eccl 12:1). This is because it is so important that the youths be grounded in the Word of God, have a personal relationship with Christ, and grow spiritually through their schooling years. The young people of the world have their minds filled with the pleasures and desires of the world, having no desire to seek God, neither do they delight in the things pertaining to God and His Word. This must not be so with the youths in church, especially in these last days.

With this in mind, the YPF has embarked on the theme “O to Be Like Thee” for 2015. Preacher Dennis Kabingue is our main speaker on the series “Knowing the Man Christ Jesus”, as we study the character of our Saviour, that we may truly emulate Him. Pastor is teaching us the Westminster Confession of Faith, and we have Dr Jose Lagapa, Rev Das Koshy and Rev Quek Suan Yew to speak to us on the series, “What the Bible says about…”. We pray these messages will encourage, edify and equip the youths with the Sword of the Spirit to stay steadfast in the Lord in these perilous times.

The committee continues to pray that the youths may purpose in their hearts to come together for a time of bible study, fellowship and prayer, and that they may find good company and godly friends as we sojourn together, until we see our Saviour face to face.

Below are some testimonies from the recent YPF camp held at Calvary Pandan, on the theme “Lovest Thou Me”.

YPF Camp 2014 Thanksgiving

I thank God that I am able to come to this camp as we can all know more about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. And also we learnt more about spiritually lethargic and spiritually dead. I also thank Pastor Koshy for teaching us more about the Lord, he taught us that the Lord gives you pressure when you do not love him, and also when you sin. – Titus

I thank the Lord for the opportunity and granting me the desire to come for this YPF camp despite the heavy workload from school. Thankfully, I’ve been reminded that I should rely on God and not depend on my own strength. Thank the Lord that the camp so far had ran smoothly and enabled me to spend more time with God. – Thaddeus Loei

God is love. I was spiritually dry, just like an old engine that lacks lubrication, but out of the overpowering love and mercy of God, He touched my heart to experience more of the matchless love of Christ. Oh, it’s such love that I need to be aware of each day and to be so driven by it, so help me God! – Grace Teo

Throughout this camp, I have learnt much about God and His Word. Some examples of the many countless things I learnt are that man cannot discover God by himself, the love of God is always a constant amount, and that man has no power to love God by himself; it is because of God’s love for us that we can love Him. I thank God for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be part of this YPF camp, and the blessings I have received from it. – Timothy Tan

I thank God that I’m able to go to this camp. I learnt that a church is an organism and it is NOT an organisation where anybody can run it. God’s love has never changed, He is the same yesterday, today and forever, rather, our understanding of His love grows and deepens when we grow closer to him. – Rachel Loei

This camp has been a blessing to me as I’ve gotten to understand more of what it means to love God and His word. The messages taught me that God’s grace is measureless and how we must focus more on God’s love rather than the voice of the world. The dorm fellowship has also reminded me of how gracious God is to us by even allowing us to have His perfect Word, the Bible to read and to ascertain the truth with our own eyes. The object games also reminded us how soon the return of our Saviour is and posed a question of how ready we are to face our Saviour. Overall, I thank God that I’m found in this camp rather than spending time with the world. – Junji

A striking reminder and lesson I’ve learnt is how God’s infinite love for us is constant because He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Only when we grow in our knowledge and understanding of Christ by studying His Word and letting the Holy Spirit work in our lives, will we discover this great and merciful truth. Another lesson I’ve learnt is that the only thing we need to equip ourselves for service to God is true, genuine love for Him, and not any ability of ours that can make us effective. I pray my love and knowledge for Christ will continue to grow by his grace and for His glory. – May Lynn

This camp has truly been a very fruitful one. It has served as a great reminder for me that because we are so wretched and full of sin, we often do not see God’s immense love for us, a love that is so rich and so free. As such, we think that God does not love us and this is one reason why we stray away from Him and succumb to worldly temptations. Instead of walking with Him and becoming closer to Him, our faith in Him wanes and becomes faint and feeble. I think this is what I fear the most, straying from God. I pray I would be able to experience not just a mere temporal, short lived blessedness just because I am on a “spiritual high” after camps, but to surrender myself to Him, and walk closer and closer to Him every day for the rest of my life. – Galvin

God’s love for us never increases nor decreases. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. I pray that the Lord will give me the strength to never stray far from Him and to help me love Him more. It is also my desire to serve God more faithfully in the areas He has privileged me to serve Him in. I thank God for the many other lessons that were taught and pray that we as a church and body of Christ will exercise Christian love towards one another, just as how Christ has loved His Church. – Richmond

Thank God for being able to attend the YPF camp once again for the messages and fellowship with like-minded brethren. I learnt that if it were not for God’s love and mercy toward us, we will never be saved and will be on our way to hell. Thus I thank God for this love He has given to me. I have been really blessed by morning devotions about spiritual lethargy and the time of fellowship. – Hannah Chua

I would like to thank God for an opportunity to come to this camp to learn of His great love for us and how weak my love has been for Him. Through reading God’s Word and through fellowship with fellow brethren I have seen how God loves and cares for us even though we forget Him. I pray that through the coming years that my love for God will continue to grow as well as my knowledge of His great love towards us. Praise God for His unchanging grace and love that he will never leave us nor forsake us. – Joel

Thank God for allowing me to come to this camp. I learnt a lot from the topic ‘Lovest Thou Me’. God loves us and is very merciful and gracious towards all of us. His love for us will never change. We must love Him with all our heart, soul, and strength. Our love for Christ must be examined and affirmed according to His standards and we should always love Him as He first loved us. We must live for God a life of separation from the world and only God can revive us from spiritual lethargy. A see-saw is like Christ on one side and the world on the other. When one goes up the other must come down so we must get our priorities right. We must always examine ourselves to check if we love God the way we should. Thank God for all these lessons learnt and pray that we will always remember what we learnt and apply them in our daily life. – Trina

Thank God for bringing me to attend this camp despite my initial immense dread. Thank God for the very pertinent camp theme, which really opened my eyes to see just how terrible the state of my spiritual walk was. Thank God for the group discussions that were extremely direct to the problems in my life that I was really struggling with and that helped me solve such issues just as swift as cleaning out and filling a tooth decay. – Dae Ern

Thank God for allowing me to join this year’s YPF camp, especially as our schedule was quite full. I have learned many, many precious lessons in this camp from morning devotions and theme messages which I want to apply in my life. One lesson that I really value from the theme messages is about how God’s love never changes and is constantly full and abundant. I also want to thank God for my group for their encouraging sharings and even from the dorm fellowship. I hope to really meditate on the lessons I learnt and actually live it out than just saying it. Thank God for this camp. – Thessa

I learned that only by loving God, I can overcome my trials. I also learned that we can love God by keeping his commandments. – Hazel

This camp I learnt more about the Lord Jesus Christ. I also learnt more about my friends in the camp and in my group. I learnt more ways to pray and when I can pray. – Cheryl Ang

This camp, I learnt more about loving God. I also learnt more about the Bible and enjoyed myself a lot. – Hannah Chin

I thank God for allowing me to be in this camp and for the fellowship that I had with my friends. I’ve learnt many precious truths from the bible like how God’s love never changes. This camp has been enriching and I can’t wait for future camps. – Andrea

I learnt that I can be tested on my love by God. May God help me to love Him more. – Thaddeus Wong
