TURNING POINT OF MY LIFE

Testimony of Yong Set Fah

I came from a non-Christian family. My parents went to temple to worship gods (idols), and they also worshipped the ancestors at home. I had no religious belief—occasionally I followed my parents to temple to worship. I was full of faith in myself, and I felt everything was under my control!

During the time when my wife was seriously ill and battling with her sickness, the brothers and sisters from the church came frequently to pray for her. After she passed away, the brothers and sisters in the church also helped us and laboured unconditionally to settle her funeral for us. This caused me to be very moved and touched. I could feel from the bottom of my heart the selfless love of the church members. Later, because I also personally experienced that God is real (from the time my wife fell ill till the time she passed away, she unknowingly helped to sow the seed in me during the whole episode), with grateful and joyful heart, I want to join this church and be a member of this church!

Miracles happened not only to my wife when she was battling with her sickness, it also happened to me. When my wife was battling with her sickness, I saw and pondered everything and could feel that God was with her throughout! My wife was very brave. She depended on the faith and strength God had given her and her personal determination, and entered the operating theatre to fight for 50% chance of survival! Before the operation, she sought healing from Jesus. My wife had gotten the victory—she came out of the operating theatre alive!

She told us when she was unconscious in the operating theatre, she miraculously saw Jesus—she saw the scene when she was first born, which her mother had told her before, that when she was born there was no sign of life in her, but she miraculously survived. She saw Jesus standing beside her and saved her when she was still just a baby! (In fact, she mentioned to her daughter countless times that she could not understand how she could survive when she should have died at birth.) She told us she finally realised it was Jesus who saved her!

After her operation, my wife immediately requested for baptism. My daughter invited her church pastor to come and baptise my wife. Though my wife was down with illness, she was joyful after her baptism. She kept calling the name of Jesus, she kept praying and pleading with Jesus to heal her. Before my wife accepted the Lord Jesus, she always visited the temple to worship gods (idols). From her childhood to the time before she fell ill, she was very devout and always visited the temple to worship gods (idols). After she was discharged from the hospital, once I unintentionally heard her talking to herself and saying she had given up on those gods (idols) she used to worship and she now wholeheartedly trusted and believed in Jesus! Thereafter, she always called on the name of Jesus, she also always said “Hallelujah”.

My wife has passed away. She passed away on August 31, 2015. From the time she was taken ill to the time she left the world, she has moved me and influenced me very much. That was the turning point in my life!

In the early morning of November 6, 2015, I needed to go to the airport to take a flight to Chongqing in China to attend my son’s wedding. But I fell in the kitchen early dawn and was bleeding badly. The worst was the bleeding would not stop. I remembered my wife always prayed to Jesus Christ to save her, to heal her completely. I learned from her and began to pray to Jesus to stop the bleeding. On the way to the airport in the taxi, I was still bleeding. In the taxi, my daughter and my son-in-law, including myself, were quietly praying! Miracle finally happened! The bleeding stopped! At the medical centre of the airport, I was given four stitches, and I also finally boarded the flight and arrived at Chongqing in China, as if nothing had happened! At that moment, my heart acknowledged Jesus and I accepted Him as my personal Saviour!

From the time my wife fell ill till the time she passed away, God was always with her. From the time she believed in the Lord Jesus Christ till the time she passed away, God was always with her. From the time she was in her mother’s womb till the time she passed away, God was always with her. My wife has passed away, but her testimony was filled with miracles. The scene she saw in the operating theatre where she saw Jesus confirmed the miracles God was working in her life and the great love God has for her. I also experienced it in my heart throughout the whole episode. Though she was facing death, she assuredly has obtained eternal life! She was so much loved by the Lord! She is blessed.

As for me, God has also always been very merciful to me. The whole episode of my wife’s sickness, the genuine love and concerns of the brothers and sisters of the church in helping us to settle her funeral, and the incident of my fall on November 6, 2015 (as narrated above), all these had touched me and was the beginning of my experience of God’s existence and presence! Just like my wife, I am also blessed, because I truly came to know the Lord Jesus (when I was bleeding profusely, I learnt from my wife to plead with the Lord Jesus to save me, He has truly helped me), and I have received salvation from God! Today, God’s hand is holding me and leading me. I have begun a new life full of hope and joy! I am now a Christian, I have believed in Jesus Christ.

After believing in Jesus, I am very much comforted and am full of faith, because I now have the Lord in my life! I felt my future is bright and I have unspeakable peace. I have new courage to seek the holy path and to seek to know God’s kingdom. Now I have no more fear, fully believing the Lord, trusting in His protection!

Because I have come to know the Lord Jesus and have believed in Him, now the Lord is my faith, and my haven of trust. Hence, I want to be baptised and join this church which I like and to know deeply my Lord Jesus.
