Tioman Testimonies

Thanksgiving Testimonies from the Sabbatical Jubilee Camp of True Life BPC, Pulau Tioman,
14-18 June 2010

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Ps 133:1).

The True Life Sabbatical Jubilee Camp was God’s gift to His children who enjoyed not only His beautiful creation on the island of Tioman but also His Holy Scriptures through the faithful preaching of Dr Paul Ferguson of Calvary Tengah BPC. We truly beheld the glory of God in Creation and in Scripture and enjoyed His manifold blessings upon us, both physical and spiritual. Sinners were converted to Christ, and believers rededicated their lives to the Lord. The fellowship of friends from near and far was especially precious. We thank the Lord for Carl and Lily Dauber who flew in all the way from Akron Ohio to be with us, for Rev Nguyen Gia Hien and his family from Brisbane, Rev Errol Stone, Eld and Mrs Harold Watkins from Perth, Rev and Mrs Stephen Khoo from Melbourne, Amos Go and Thangno from Myanmar, and last but not least Dr and Mrs Wee Tiong Soon from Kemaman. We truly had a little taste of heaven on earth, “for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (Ps 133:3).

Here are some testimonies from the campers:

“It was a most wonderful Church Camp, being with likeminded brethren, and the spiritual food was edifying and an absolute blessing, leaving us spiritually fed and refreshed. It was also a privilege to fellowship with Dr Paul Ferguson and his beloved wife. It was indeed a blessing to have Carl and Lily (Rev Tow’s daughter) at the Camp. The  Camp  venue  being  a tropical paradise was outstanding as was the physical food. Congratulations to Dn Charles Kan the Camp Master and the Camp Committee who laboured tirelessly for many months to organise a blessed Camp. We give thanks also for the Lord granting us safety during the entirety of the Camp and in all our travels.” Rev Errol Stone (Faith Presbyterian Church, Perth)

“We truly thank God for His grace, mercy and goodness and for the prayers, encouragement and kind support from True Life BPC, which we do not deserve, that my family and I can join her church camp this year. We have been much blessed by God’s Word and His Truth through the preaching of His faithful servants and by the sweet and encouraging fellowship with True Lifers and like-minded brethren. That is God’s providence indeed! Praise the Lord!” Rev Hien Nguyen & family (Brisbane BPC)

“We want to thank God for granting our family the privilege to attend this Church camp. The messages were profound and spiritually enriching to our souls. Thank God for sending forth His ministers to deliver His Words to His flock and many of us were blessed through the messages. Thank God for the wonderful fellowship we had with other brothers and sisters in Christ and a safe journey back to Singapore. My family and I will be looking forward to attend next year’s church camp, God willing. God bless.” Peng Hwa & family

“I really thank God for the privilege to be part of the Sabbatical Jubilee Camp especially for providing us with a good camp speaker. It was a success and would surely leave a deep impression especially in those who attended the church camp for the first time. The time spent at camp went by so quickly; wished it could be longer.” Tang Chan Ying

“Thank God for His providence that I was able to travel to the church camp by air. The first thing that I learned from the camp was patience. This reminded me of the flight which was delayed both ways, and the hotel staff who took some time to attend to our needs. The second thing I learned was the greatness and glory of God which was manifested in the beautiful waterfall, fishes, and corals, and the clear blue sea. In addition, I was reminded of the sovereignty of God— nothing happens to His children without His permission. God’s glory will be fully revealed when Jesus comes again. Everything will be perfect—no more sin, no more illness, no more aging, a perfect body and a perfect voice. We will be able to see God and be with Him forever. May I be ready and may I press on with this Blessed Hope.” Jane Goh

“I am really happy and enjoyed our Church camp. I thank God for His preservation and mercy. This is my first experience and everything is new and nice for me. I ate like I never ate before, especially the messages which touched me so much. Revelation 2:2 touched my heart. Yes God knows all my labour and work. I realise that I need to work harder and I need to serve the Lord humbly to the end. I need to pray more than before. Please remember me in your prayers. Thank you. God bless.” Amos Go (Myanmar)

“I would like to thank God for helping me to get to Tioman Island safely and swiftly, firstly on the coach then on the ferry. I would also like to thank God for keeping me in good care as my parents were not traveling with me. Despite the fact of the second ferry being delayed, I praise God for keeping his people safe and sound. The Berjaya Resort was a big and beautiful one, with many things to do. During the first two nights, I slept with Aunty Suzanne and family. I thank them for letting me stay with them and also thank God for sending them to look after me for the time being. The messages from Dr Paul Ferguson were very inspiring and I learned a lot just by listening. While I was thoroughly enjoying myself, God sent a sickness to me and on Tuesday afternoon, I came down with a fever. I would really like to thank God for helping me get over the fever and also for sending all the Uncles and Aunties who came to my aid and helped me to recover more quickly. I am grateful to Aunty Suzanne and Uncle Tiong Peng, Uncle Steve and Aunty Alice, Uncle Ming Kuang and Aunty Lai Peng, Uncle Wilson and Aunty Molly, Aunties Anya and Fransiska, and all the other worshippers who prayed for me or helped me in any other way. My mother finally came on Wednesday afternoon while I was sleeping, and I thank God for keeping her and my brothers safe during the plane ride on the Berjaya Airlines. I had a really great time with all the other people in Church and I look forward to our heavenly Church Camp! I was sad to leave but I remembered that all good things must come to an end, except the Kingdom of God and his Holy, preserved Word.” Tai Cae Ryn

“The camp was very fun and the activities are very thrilling. The teachers were very friendly and they were quite professional. The lessons were also very enlightening, and they taught a lot about God’s Word. I learnt that the journey to heaven (Celestial City) is strait and narrow, and very, very difficult. However difficult it is, we must still continue and endure the rocky path. We have to be contented and not be envious as it is sinful to be envious. We also have to put on the spiritual armour. Thank the Lord for all these lessons.” Lucas Tan (12 years old)

“I like the lessons that I learned from our classes. I like also the food here, the rooms, and especially the surroundings. I learned many things in this camp. In Uncle Herbert’s class, I learned true joy, to be diligent like the ants, and to be contented with what I have. In Uncle Clement’s class I learned comfort, to trust in the Saviour only. In Aunty Jenny’s class I learned that I am on a journey (a pilgrim), and to make sure of my salvation.” Thessa Lagapa (10 years old)
