A PRESBYTERIAN ELDER & EVANGELIST WHO KNOWS NO RETIREMENT

On Tuesday, September 25, 2012, Jemima and I visited Elder Leong Yin Chu. Elder Leong was a friend of our late pastor Timothy Tow. Our late pastor got to know Elder Leong in 1996 when he brought someone interested to study at FEBC to see him. Knowing that Elder Leong was an evangelist, Pastor Tow asked if he could assist in reaching out to the people in Kuantan. At that time, Life Church had just purchased a 7000 square feet corner terrace house in Kuantan to start a kindergarten and church. Elder Leong and his wife answered the call and stayed at the new Kuantan mission house for four months. When they were there, they shared the good news to those in the neighbourhood.

Elder Leong is a retired Principal and Inspector of schools, but he says he will not retire from serving the Lord. He fondly told us that this was what he learned from Pastor Tow—“There’s no retirement in the Lord’s service”. Elder Leong must be in his 80s but is still preaching and witnessing actively for Christ.

Jemima and I went to see Elder Leong because he kindly sent to us a complimentary copy of his new and fifth book entitled, There’s Nothing Too Difficult for the Lord. He also generously wrote in his letter, “If more copies are needed, we’ll send them without hesitation. Just let us know”. This offer was readily taken up and I asked for 200 copies for True Life and FEBC. If you wish to have a copy of Elder Leong’s book on evangelism, please help yourself to one at the book table this morning.
I have invited Elder Leong to preach to our Chinese congregation on November 25th. May some souls be saved. Do pray for him. JK

FEBC ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS

From “Grateful Alumni”

Dear FEBC

I praise God for raising FEBC for training ministers and full-time workers for His vineyard. And I cannot give thanks enough to God for leading me to His choice college because it is within its halls that I have learnt what it means to be faithful to His Word.

God has indeed shown His great faithfulness in how He has led and protected FEBC through the storms—glory to His Name! The events recounted during the lead up to the 50th Anniversary have truly strengthened my faith—that those who remain faithful in honouring God, God will honour. 1 Samuel 2:30 says, “Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”

The sound teaching on theology and doctrines are critical for the work of God but the lessons learnt within the halls of FEBC goes beyond them. The additional training of the spiritual man and character is most invaluable for God’s servants, as well as the emphasis on humility in the study of theology.

It has indeed been a tremendous privilege to be part of this momentous period of FEBC’s history and to have the honour of standing on the Lord’s side with FEBC. May God continue to grant FEBC the courage, zeal, and strength to be faithful to the inerrant, infallible, inspired and preserved Word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ to the very end.

All glory to God in the highest! In Christ

Dear Dr. and Mrs. Khoo,
On the 50th Anniversary of the Far Eastern Bible College, I wish to let you know how grateful I am to God for graciously leading me not only to visit your campus but also for allowing me to have a taste of what the school teaches. Indeed it is not by chance that Dr. and Mrs. Lagapa had become my friends in CMU. God used them so I can be instructed of the truth from God’s Word which I observed has become a rarity even in so-called fundamental churches. I shared what I learned from the Rev. Dr. Quek Suan Yew on the Theology of Giving last summer to the elder women in our church and they expressed how blessed they were by the message. Right now, God allowed me to be learning from the Rev. Dr. Prabhudas Koshy on the Gospel of John through online study. This is helping me a lot in building my confidence to conduct Bible studies with several students in the school where I am teaching.

God’s Word indeed is powerful, and I am grateful to God for faithful men and women at FEBC who teach God’s Word, who show a clear defense of the King James Bible as the most faithful translation, and for discipling men and women to be faithful in His service. At my age, and for the many years that I had professed to be a Christian, I am very happy that God is teaching me through your ministry. I wish to extend my warmest congratulations to the administration, faculty and staff for a job well done in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Sincerely in Christ, Prof. Patria P. Solidum

P.S. I will never forget the many blessings which I got from you personally, from the services I attended at True Life BP Church, from the Bible study and prayer meeting I attended while I was there. Thank you so very much.

Dear Dr. Jeffrey Khoo,
I would like to greet Far Eastern Bible College on its 50th Foundation Anniversary. I praised and thanked God for FEBC for continually preaching and teaching faithfully the Word of God and for continually defending God’s Word against the attack of the enemies. I and my family were thankful to God for allowing us to attend the Daily Vacation Bible College of FEBC last year. Truly, we have been blessed by God through FEBC in strengthening our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and His holy, inspired, infallible and inerrant Word.

I pray that FEBC will continue to stand firm in her God-given commission.

Dear Dr. Khoo,
Greetings to you in our Lord Jesus Christ from Vietnam.

I am so sorry that I could not come and rejoice with my Alma Mater at her 50th Anniversary Thanksgiving Week. I had planned to come since I heard of this event. However, my ministry in Vietnam was already scheduled to be held at the same time as this anniversary. I wish I could change our schedule but I could not. We had a church dedication and thanksgiving service on 24th Sept in the highlands which is 8 hours by car from HCMC. I was the guest speaker and in charge of this service. Surely, I could not be back on time if I went to Singapore. I had missed a wonderful time.

Congratulations to you, faculty members and all the students with all my heart. My heart rejoices and is thankful to God for what He has done for my Alma Mater. It is a wonderful testimony and a great encouragement for all of us to witness that the Lord is faithful to preserve this college for His glory. Truly, the Word of God says in Psalm 127:1, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain”. May the Lord continue to bless and preserve FEBC to train more faithful and able men for His Kingdom.
May God bless you. Your students,

Dear Pastor Jeffrey,
Greeting you in the blessed name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

By the grace of God, and your prayers, and True Life BPC’s love gifts and support, we here at NLOC have been running well and doing well till today. Praise God.

I am sorry that I could not join FEBC’s 50th Anniversary thanksgiving. But I and my family and all the children here are so happy and thankful to God for His goodness and guidance and protection which saved FEBC from many difficulties and hardships. Praise God.

Actually, Satan want to destroy FEBC and want to evict FEBC from her birthplace using Life BPC but God protected and preserved and saved with His mighty hand because God had appointed FEBC to uphold His Word (VPI, 2 Tim 3:16) and (VPP, Matt 5:18), and to stand strongly and rightly at the end of the day.

Job 8:7 says, “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.” May FEBC train more pastors, teachers, evangelists in the future until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again; “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil 1:6).

Pastor, we (NLOC) are always behind you praying for you and for True Life PBC and FEBC. Pastor, thank God that He has provided for the needs of NLOC through True Life BPC till today. We (NLOC) are very happy and thankful to God and to True Life BPC too. Praise God and to God be the glory. Thanks.

We all here always pray for you and for True Life BPC and FEBC. May God bless you.

Yours in Christ, Brother Thangno
