Occupy till He Comes!

(A Report by William Teo on the Occasion of the Adults Fellowship’s 5th Anniversary Thanksgiving, 6th February 2010)

We would like to thank our Heavenly Father for sustaining us these last five years! It is our prayer that the Lord will continue to lead and guide as we seek to grow in faith and in the knowledge of Him!

We thank God for providing Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo as our speaker who has taught us the truth from God’s perfect, infallible and preserved Word. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr Khoo who has ministered to us and we pray that the Lord will grant him grace and strength as he continues to defend the faith which was once delivered to the saints! Currently, Dr Khoo is teaching us from the book of Acts (we have completed 16 out of 28 chapters). We pray that more brethren will be able to join us to study God’s Word together.

As usual, we meet monthly on the third Saturday to study God’s Word together in my house at 3.30pm. During our monthly meetings, we have the message first followed by testimony and prayer time when we break into groups to pray for one another. Sister Jenny Kan will take the children for their own Bible study and craft work during testimony and prayer time. After that we stay for some refreshments and fellowship. We thank God for the growing number of children attending the AF meeting. We pray that they will come to know the Lord before they enter secondary school.

Besides the monthly meetings, some of the AF brethren also participate in the following activities: (1)Monthly door-to-door HDB flats evangelism led by Deacon Charles Kan; (2) Children’s Ministry and Vacation Bible School; and (3) Church camp – so that we can also have fellowship with our church brethren. A good number of us were able to join the church camp last year.

We thank God that many of us are attending the “Basic Theology for Everyone” night classes of FEBC as we are strongly encouraged to study the Word of God at FEBC to build up our faith and knowledge of Him.

The highlight of the year was Christmas Carolling on 25 December 2009. Christmas is a time when we can share God’s glad tidings and great joy of salvation to those who are still unsaved. We thank God for four homes that were opened last year: (1) Sister Desy’s and (2) Sister Wendy’s home where Brother Joshua Yong shared God’s Word to them; (3) Sister Keng Hong’s and (4) Sister Kuan Tai’s home where the Gethsemane Care Ministry presented a special item and Preacher Daniel Lim exhorted from God’s Word. We ended our carolling with fellowship at Sister Kuan Tai’s home. Thank God for every opportunity to preach the gospel and to share God’s Word.

Our love gifts in support of missions and the needy were disbursed to the following: (1) Young People’s Fellowship 5th Anniversary, (2) Sister Kuan Tai, (3) Sister Hui Ching, and (4) Baraka Church in Bethlehem.

We pray for the Lord to open up avenues of service for us to serve Him in 2010 as we seek to occupy till He comes!

Provoking One Another unto Good Works

(A Testimony by Wendy Teng on God’s Blessings upon the Adults Fellowship)

I would like to thank God for His mercy and goodness that He has showered upon the Adults Fellowship (AF) for the past five years. Thank God for providing this fellowship and preserving this fellowship as a means of grace for us to grow spiritually in the Lord.

I still remember we started gathering at Bro William and Sis Rachel’s home informally to know and better understand the VPP doctrine from Dr Jeffrey Khoo who patiently taught us. And through the encouragement and advice of Dr Khoo, the AF was formed and we have had our meetings here for the past five years. We are grateful to the Lord for providing this home for our meetings and the great hospitality our Chairman Bro William and Sis Rachel have extended to us in their labour of love for the Lord. Now we are all so familiar with this place and could feel very at home here whenever we meet. We thanked God for their kindness and hospitality.

Thank God also for this spiritual family that the Lord has provided for us where we not only could come together and study God’s Word and serve the Lord together, but could share our burdens with one another and pray for one another and also to encourage and provoke one another unto love and good works. We are grateful to the Lord that through mutual encouragement, quite a number of the AFers have been and are now attending the FEBC night classes to study God’s Word that we may grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Indeed the Lord has been very good to us.

Thank God also for opening doors for us to serve Him. Thank God for burdening the heart of Sis Jenny Kan to share God’s Word with Sarah and Jeremy and she has been faithfully teaching them month after month. And through this, the Lord moved our hearts to start a Children’s ministry last year after the VBS as Sarah had invited a number of her classmates to the VBS and we were thinking how to follow up on them. Thank God that some of her classmates do continue to join us for our AF meetings and Sis Jenny Kan will teach them. And through this Children’s ministry, we are grateful to the Lord that souls are brought into His kingdom – Herrick, Shirley Leong’s neighbour’s son came to the Lord the first time he joined us and Solikah, William’s maid who sit in to listen to Jenny teaching the children also came to the Lord the same day as Herrick after Sis Jenny shared the gospel with both of them. All praise and glory be to God!

I thank God also for the AF who came to my home at our last Christmas Carolling to share God’s Word with my parents. Thank God for giving my parents and my elder brother the opportunity to hear the gospel though they are not ready to believe yet. Every opportunity is precious and thank God for moving my parents’ heart to allow our home to be opened for carolling last year and for the AF’s effort to reach out to my loved ones.

This year, we are thankful to the Lord for helping us start a Visitation Ministry. Thank God for the burden that He has laid upon my heart regarding this Visitation Ministry and I am grateful to the Lord for the enthusiasm shown by AFers when I shared with them this burden that the Lord has given me. Thank God that through their provoking unto love and good works and encouragement, we started our first visitation this month on February 16. The purpose of this ministry is two-fold: (1) To reach out to our loved ones, especially our parents whom we have been praying for their salvation, to share with them the gospel and to invite them to our church; and (2) To visit the sick and other church members to encourage them in the Lord and to fellowship with them.

Praise the Lord for a blessed time we had visiting Sis Mei Lin’s and Sis Kuan Tai’s mothers on February 16. Thank God for providing Rev Ton Soung Kao from Calvary Pandan BPC and Bro Jose Lagapa to be our speakers. We thank God that our visitation has been a blessing to them.

Please continue to pray for the AF that the Lord will have mercy on us and willing to use us for His glory alone. All praise and glory be to God!
