THE ADULTS FELLOWSHIP

Dn Charles Kan

The Bible instructs us in Hebrews 10:24, 25, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” For this reason and by the grace of God, the Adults Fellowship (AF) was formed in 2005. This fellowship provided an avenue where God’s Word would be systematically taught by faithful servants of God for the building up our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are thankful to God for homes that were opened by our members all these years. We gather at 3.30 pm on the second Saturday of every month. We have just concluded the lessons on the Tabernacle of God by Rev Stephen Khoo in May 2013. We had a break in June because of our annual church camp. In July 2013, we embarked on a study of the book of Ezekiel with our pastor, Dr Jeffrey Khoo. God willing, we hope to complete studying Ezekiel by January 2015.

We pray that more of our brethren would make time to join us at our AF meetings for a time of Bible study, prayer and fellowship for mutual encouragement. To God be the glory!

Testimony by Jeremy and Bonnie

In the beginning, when my family and I attended True Life B-P Church, we did not know anyone. Thank God for some brothers and sisters who encouraged us to come and join the church service again. Slowly we got to know more and more people in the church. As we wished to know the church members better, we approached Pastor Jeffrey Khoo and shared with him our desire to know more brothers and sisters in Christ here. He advised my wife and me to join the AF.

We joined the AF last year, in December 2012. We have Bible study each time, followed by prayer. We share our needs and pray for one another. And we give thanks for what God has blessed us with. Then we have refreshments together.

I want to share that at each AF meeting, it is a joyful time. We are blessed not only physically, but more importantly spiritually to the fullest. I would like to encourage more brothers and sisters to join our AF. You will have a wonderful time with us in the Lord.

Testimony by Cindy Lim

I joined the AF in year 2011. I have grown spiritually in the Lord through the study of His Word. In my Christian life, I struggled to surrender my life to God and to wholly submit to Him. I failed Him again and again. I confessed my sins to God and the Lord forgave me.

All my life I have been living by my own strength and have committed many many mistakes. One day I sat down and pondered over all the things I had done. I realised that I have to commit everything to the Lord and surrender my all to Him. Luke 9:23 says, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” I prayed to the Lord God, “Lord Jesus, I surrender all my life to you.” The Lord answered my prayer and since then He is leading me in everything I do, and to do it all to the glory of God.

The Lord is good. He answers my prayers as He listens to His children who cry out to Him.

Testimony by Evelin Tan

I have wanted to settle down in a church where I can grow spiritually well. I have been visiting churches for 11 years and during this period, God closed three doors. Thank God for leading me to True Life BPC. Although my worshipping in True Life has been recent, I do not want to go on searching for another 11 years, just to warm the pew every Sunday. I pray and seek God for continuing confidence and strength as I settle down in this church and renew my zeal to serve the Lord once again, “Here am I; send me.” (Isaiah 6:8).

To help my spiritual growth, I was very determined to join a fellowship group. God knows my heart and He directed me to the AF. I have good reasons to praise and thank God for the AF: (1) This fellowship group is like an olive branch of Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC). The Word of God is never compromised. The messages are simplified and practical, taught by FEBC teachers. (2) It is difficult to make new friends in the adult world. God impressed upon me that this is made possible through prayer time after each message. Prayer connects friendships (regardless of age). Prayer strikes conversation. More importantly, I am more mindful of my prayer attitudes and I am reminded to follow Christ’s footsteps in Matthew 20:28, “Even as the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister…”. (3) Lastly, I thank God for AFers who really take good care of me. All praise be to our God!

Testimony by Kelly

I thank God for leading me to the AF in May 2012. I have been wonderfully blessed by studying the Ten Commandments and the Tabernacle with Rev Quek Suan Yew and Rev Stephen Khoo respectively. Through the faithful preaching of God’s words, I have learnt more about the law of God, which in turn ignites the spiritual fire in me to continue to study God’s words.

Thank God for the AF where we can gather as brothers and sisters in Christ to meditate on God’s words together and support one another in prayer. May our gracious God continue to lead our AF to learn more of His precious words. All praise and glory be to His Name! “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.(Ps 133:1).

Testimony by Siew Khim

I want to thank God for His faithfulness in seeing the AF through the past eight years, for being there with us through our ups and downs. He provided speakers from whom we have benefited spiritually through their faithful teaching. For instance, I used to think the Tabernacle was a dwelling place for God during the Israelites’ exodus. After going through the lessons on the Tabernacle, the Tabernacle has become more meaningful to me. I learnt that the Tabernacle typifies Jesus Christ and He is the only way to God. Last but not least, I want to thank God for the spiritual and caring brethren in AF who have encouraged us in our spiritual walk.

RADIO MINISTRY IN KENYA

Philip Lagat

Receive greetings in Jesus’ precious Name. We are fine in the Lord and getting on in His work. I am writing to thank the Lord for you, the Session and True Life BPC at large for supporting again my radio programme, Kas- Ng’olyot, ie “Hear the Word.” The name is based on Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

The Lord put in my heart the burden of preaching the word through the radio so that many of our people may be helped. This is because many people are misled by current preachers who are not only propagating a false gospel, but are also out to fleece the flock. There are such false preachers on television and on radio. There is a need therefore to seize opportunities to preach the true gospel. So, I thank God very much for you.

Many have been helped in this radio ministry, as they call or text me and say that the word they are hearing is blessing them. Here is one example, “The word was good and a blessing. May God strengthen you and give you grace so that you will continue to be a blessing to us.” This is because the Word of God is powerful and that is what people need, not words of men that have no life in them. Those who are following the programme are able now to distinguish truth from error.

Currently I am going through Psalm 119, speaking on the importance of God’s Word. It has been a blessing to me as I study and prepare each lesson. It has been a blessing to me to see how King David cherished the Word.

Again I thank the Lord for the open door to study at FEBC. The Lord prepared me for this purpose. We continue to keep the College in prayer that the Lord will continue to preserve it for His own glory. We also covet your prayers that we will be faithful in giving out the faithful words of God to God’s people. Thank you for being part of this ministry. Truly it is not in vain. We may not see much fruit now, but I trust that some day we shall see.

May the Lord bless you richly for the good work you are doing.

LEARNING KISWAHILI

Dear Dr Khoo,

Greetings in the name of the Lord. I thank you for the True Life BPC camp. I was encouraged by the fellowship and messages. I also thank you for the chance that I could share about my service in BCEA.

Nearly a month has passed since I left Singapore. Now I am starting the third week of Swahili language course in Tanzania. I found it very helpful that I have many corrections as well as many new vocabularies in my Swahili. I just write this to thank you for your concern and support for me to improve my missionary service. The language school is located in Morogoro which is about 10 hours driving distance from Arusha. Though not many students are in the school now, it provides a safe environment. Please send my greetings to all and may God bless you.

In Christ,

Bai, Eun Young 28 July 2013
