SALVATION TESTIMONIES

I Found a Church to Know the Truth

I am Erma Lapasaran. I am 50 years old. I come from Mintal Deca Homes Subdivision, Davao City, Philippines. I grew up believing in the Roman Catholic faith with my family. I thought that I was already in the right path and that this church could help me know about God. I desired to have a peaceful life, but many problems came into my life. This included the breakup of my relationship with my husband that caused me to separate from him.

I thank God that in the year 2004, I came here to Singapore to work. However, my life was still filled with endless problems. In the year 2012, a friend invited me to go with her to her church which was a Pentecostal church. I heard the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. After two weeks of attending that church, I was encouraged to be baptized. I agreed, however, at that time, I did not yet understand many things because there was no teaching conducted before I was baptized. I submitted for baptism believing that it could save me.

In the year 2019, I experienced fear because of the sins that I had done. I realized that I was not living according to the Word of God. I was not happy although I had money and have made many friends here in Singapore. I do not deny that I had happy moments but whenever I was alone, I was eaten up by my conscience. The Lord reminded me to seek for forgiveness of my sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. But I also realized that I need to learn the Bible. I prayed the Lord to help me find a church that would help me.

In the year 2020, there were students from Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC) who informed me about the Filipino Bible Fellowship (FilBF) under the ministry of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church. From that time on until now, the Lord is using the FilBF so that I can know the truths of the Bible including the doctrines that I should understand.

The Lord be glorified in all the graces that He extended to my life. Erma Pulpul Lapasaran

I Understand the Value of My Life in Christ

I am Gina Ortiz. I am 52 years old. I come from Indangan, Davao City, Philippines. I grew up believing the Roman Catholic Church’s doctrines. I did not realize then the difference of this church from other religions. For a long period of time I trusted that I will remain in this church.

In the year 1998, I started working here in Singapore as a domestic helper. There were many times that I heard about the Word of God. I remember some people giving me tracts in Toa Payoh and Orchard that explained the Gospel. I just listened with respect because I know it is the Word of God, but I brushed them away in the end.

Last 2014, I came to know a friend. In the first part of 2020, she told me that I should go with her to church and that she will pray for me that I will join her. But I was so stubborn and told her that I do not want to change from one religion to another. There came a time that this friend stopped inviting me.

Then suddenly, there was a day that I wanted to try. I called and told her that I wanted to go with her. She was very happy with my decision and I knew then that although she stopped inviting me, she did not stop praying for me. I did not realize that the Lord used this friend of mine so that I will know the Lord. I decided to attend the Filipino Bible Fellowship (Lunch Fellowship at Upper Room) in the month of November last year. I was so happy to join even in a small place with just a handful of people gathering. There I started to realize how good the Word of God is. The people I came to know were full of love and joy that even if I am not in any way related to them, I felt their compassion towards me. I also witnessed how they worshipped the Lord in a simple manner but with reverence and fear of God.

It was through this that I learned many things. I admit that it is in hearing with my innermost being that I came to believe in the Lord. For this reason, their teaching of the Word of God completes my understanding. I understand and it is clear to me how good the Gospel is and the importance of the forgiveness of our sins against the Lord.

Praise the Lord that in that day He gave me the faith to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour. One blessing I learned is that the moment I am saved, God will not take it back and no man is able to take it from me. Because of this, little by little, I felt the change and I understand that good works can only be possibly done when I have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank the Lord that slowly I understand the value of my life in the eyes of our Lord.

Glory be to God! Gina Mata Ortiz

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VBS is a yearly ministry of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church to children and teens from ages 4 to 17.

The objectives of VBS are, (1) to evangelise the young people with the Gospel of Christ and (2) to teach them the Word of God. This is in obedience to the Great Commission given by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19–20.

The theme this year is “Knowing Jesus, the Great I AM” and the theme verse is John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the VBS will be conducted online this year. Nevertheless, the children and teens can look forward to a packed programme filled with activities such as Bible lessons, crafts, quizzes and songs.

Do set aside just 3 days of the June holidays to engage your children in the study of God’s Word. This is the best investment of their time with eternity’s values in view. The details are as follows:
