GIVING TO MISSIONS

We thank the Lord for the privilege we have in giving to missions, not only to those under us who are Bible-Presbyterians but also those who are from other denominations, who are part of God’s wider kingdom for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ. “I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35). “For it hath pleasedthem of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certaincontribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.” (Rom 15:26). “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” (Heb 6:10).

Church Building for Baptists

Pastor Romeo Larano, the senior Pastor of Gingoog Fundamental Baptist Church, which is the mother church of Lunao, together with Pastor Rodrey Suguipit, Dn Jonas Ba-a and the brethren extend their heartiest thanksgiving to True Life BPC and FilBF for the financial support to construct a church building. We have extended the first SGD7,500, but since the prevailing price of construction materials in Gingoog has increased, we added SGD1,500 to complete the roofing. It is also planned that the space at the back of the church building will be extended as a parsonage for Pastor Suguipit and his family. They are currently staying in Gingoog city which is several kilometers away from Lunao. He can oversee closely the flock and conduct Bible studies there once he and his family can stay right at the back of the church building. Although it is not yet completed, we are assured the Lord will complete it in His own time.

When God works, Satan is also working! Last October, the deacon (“Brother Joy” as he is fondly called) assisting Pastor Suguipit in the work at Lunao was attacked with a machete by one of his colleagues at work. Brother Joy was simply honest to tell the manager of misconduct by this colleague which had caused the company water bills to rise. The accused attacked Brother Joy with a machete but the latter managed to escape except for his left lower limb which suffered a cut more than three inches wide and with a depth that reached down to the bone. We thank the Lord that Brother Joy does not have any vengeful feeling. What I appreciated was his response saying the pain that he suffered is nothing compared to what the Lord Jesus Christ had suffered for him. Indeed, it was a test for him and the congregation in Lunao that as they are building a physical structure to worship God, what is importantly manifested through this incident is the spiritual witness that they are building in Lunao. If Brother Joy and his siblings had retaliated, they would have failed the Lord. The physical structure would have been a mere sepulcher which houses only spiritually destitute “Christians”.

We should continue to pray for them as we see how the enemy is angry over the project in Lunao. Their failure would also mean our failure. So let us pray for one another. (Dr Jose Lapaga, FilBF Weekly, Nov 10, 2019).

Motorcycle for a Mountain Pastor

Vic Genilla is pastor of Bugwak Fundamental Baptist Church, Kadingilan, Bukidnon. He was one of the students of Bible Equipping Seminar and Training (BEST) programme. The church he pastors is on a mountain top and very far from water supply. Being over 60 years old, he has difficulty fetching water by foot from the nearest spring which is almost a kilometre away. We proposed to buy a water pump but the distance requires expensive equipment. We also proposed to drill but it would cost more. Thank God for the wisdom given to Dr Einstine Opiso to buy a motorcycle instead. He can use the motorcycle for his own transport as well as to fetch water. We praise the Lord for some love gifts from church brethren who gave an amount for the needy pastors in the Philippines. The cost of the motorcycle is more than a thousand SGD including registration papers and fees.

Here is Pastor Genilla’s thanksgiving letter:

Dear Brethren in True Life BPC,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ whom we serve daily! I am Pastor Vic Genilla one of students of BEST. I thank God greatly for the brethren in Singapore who gave me a motorcycle where I can use to fetch water in a place far from the church. I am also thankful to God for using Dr Lagapa and Dr Einstine to make this motorcycle available for me. Because of this I am praying to the Lord for the Christians in Singapore, that in all things they will experience the overflowing blessings from the Lord in their lives. Again thank you very much brethren in the Lord in Singapore. To Dr Lagapa, thank you very much and to Dr Einstine thanks also to you. I am hopeful that the Lord Jesus Christ will always bless us all!

Your brother in Christ,

Vic Genilla

Bibles to an Evangelical Free Church

Thadeaus Galleto graduated from FEBC with a BTh in 2008. He is now the pastor of an Evangelical Free Church in Leyte, the Philippines. Recently, he wrote to ask for KJV Bibles. To assist him in his pastoral ministry, TLBPC has sent to him 50 copies of the KJV (10 copies of the Defined KJV published by the Dean Burgon Society, 10 Westminster KJV by the Trinitarian Bible Society, and 30 KJV with zipper cover). The box of Bibles was shipped on October 24. Here is his letter of October 16:

Dear Rev. Dr. Khoo,

Greetings to you in the blessed Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

I praise God for the opportunity to serve God in the ministry (Harvest Evangelical Free Church). Though I am not pastoring a BP church, I still hold on to the doctrines and teachings I learned in FEBC.

I am using the KJV Bible in my pulpit ministry as well as personal reading. However I have to admit that being in a non-BP church, some of our church members are using other versions but there are some using the KJV. We do not use the dialect Bible because the translation is far from KJV and most can understand English.

Preacher Dennis Kabingue is worshipping in our Church and he preaches twice a month. Preacher Dennis and I promote the use of the KJV Bible, and we need the KJV Bible so we can distribute to the members to be used in the church.

May the Lord continue to use FEBC to train men to defend and proclaim the Gospel. God bless!

In Christ,

Thadeaus

Praise the Lord, the Bibles have reached him on November 15 and will be given out as Christmas presents. JK

Library books to the Bible College of East Africa have arrived intact.
