FILIPINO BIBLE FELLOWSHIP

3rd Anniversary Thanksgiving Testimony by Dr Jose Trinipil Lagapa

Psalm 117:1–2 tells us, “O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.” This is a call for a universal praise unto the Lord our God for His mercy and kindness.

Unworthy as we are in the FilBF, we are thanking God for granting us a part in bringing the good news to as many of our countrymen as we can reach in the Philippines. He paved the way for us to begin ministries to bring the good news according to the Scriptures. Nothing in us is special to make us worthy to be chosen as His instrument. We should just be thankful that by His gracious hand, He moves us to sow seeds of the gospel.

FilBF’s third year is a year where we receive more than what we deserve. As we can immediately notice, He provided for us a meeting place at Godhill. This very blessed and fitting place for our meetings is alone worthy of much thanksgiving.

Esperanza BP Missions

In August 7, 2018, the Lord led us through the encouragement of Pastor Robert Kluttz in Japan to start a work in Dakutan, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur. Pr Ronel Libertad answered the Lord’s call to become our missionary and is supported by the love gifts from Pastor Kluttz. Although we do not have a church there yet, he keeps on doing the work of an evangelist in the area. Last May, we had our Vacation Bible School (VBS) there and 46 children attended with 13 parents who came for the closing program’s Gospel Rally. May the Lord work in the hearts of those who have heard the Word of God. It is now to be supported fully by FilBF and to be named Esperanza Bible-Presbyterian Missions.

Christian Bible Fellowship

On October 28, 2018, on Reformation Sunday, we commenced our witness in Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu by the forming of the Christian Bible Fellowship (CBF). The Lord started His work through our brothers Carlo and Jude. The CBF is now having worship services and Bible study meetings every Lord’s Day. We thank the Lord for the children who came for the VBS and about half of them are now coming to CBF to attend the Sunday School. May the Lord continue to bless this ministry in Mactan Island.

Trinidad BP Missions

The Lord’s rebuke to me led me to commence the work of Trinidad Bible-Presbyterian Missions in Bohol. On February 4, 2019, the Lord called Pr Rodolfo Gayon to start a work in my hometown. Although it is a heavily Roman Catholic community, the hand of the Lord is not shortened to reach the hardened hearts of the people there. Last May 2019, the VBS, the first, as far as I know, saw 12 God-sent children and 4 parents to attend the Gospel Rally.

The Trinidad BP Missions does not have worship meetings on the Lord’s Day yet. But in God’s time, He will grant us this desire we have. We thank the Lord for the planned missions trip for Pastor and the brethren to visit Cebu and Bohol this September 2019. Let us pray for the Lord to pave the way for them. “As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God” (Romans 9:25–26).

New Camiling Church Building

We are thankful that although we are not a rich fellowship, the Lord provided an amount so that we can help with the initial cost of a church building for a Baptist Church in New Camiling, Valencia City. Through the help of True Life BPC and church members, the church building is completed. The church is now using the premises for their Sunday worship, Wednesday prayer meetings, Bible studies, fellowships and other church activities including their recent missions conference.

Ambassadors for Christ

The soul-winning team, Ambassadors for Christ, is still continuing its effort in reaching out to the people in each of their respective church neighbourhoods. On Monday, July 22, 2019, the team travelled more than 8 hours to help Pr Ronnel evangelize the villages nearby his place in Esperanza, Agusan del Sur. Let us pray that the Lord will save souls to start as pioneering members for a church there. May the Lord prepare the hearts of the evangelists and the people to hear God’s Word. Please pray for their safety and protection. “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:14–15).

Graduation

The Lord satisfies His children with abundant temporal favours in order to serve Him best. The 44th Graduation Service of Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC) saw three of our members graduating. It is by the grace of God and we should give unto the Lord the praise and adoration for He alone granted them success after years of enabling them to toil and work hard. God supplies their needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:9). Jude Thaddeus Gabales, Aprilaiza Sible, and yours truly received our respective awards.

Translation Work

Aprilaiza desires to co-labour with us in our plan to translate the Read, Pray, Grow (RPG) and the hymns for the use of our countrymen in the Philippines, as well as for those who are working here in Singapore and other parts of the world. This is a big task and we cannot do even a bit if God is not opening the door for us. As Paul told the Christians in Thessalonica, “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you” (2 Thessalonians 3:1). Let us seek the Lord’s will concerning His plan for us to embark on such a project.

Labourers for God

Although a number of our members went back to the Philippines for good, the Lord is bringing in new faces. Let us pray that they too will come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. One of those who had gone back, Elmie Betacura, has entered Bukidnon Fundamental Baptist Seminary (BFBS) to be trained as a Bible woman. Last January, we are blessed with one who has entered FEBC in the person of brother Deccarlo Igot. We look forward to more of our members being called by God to worship and glorify our Lord. Luke 10:2 says, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”

Lord’s Day Evangelism

Because of many who had returned to the Philippines, we are having fewer people. Nevertheless, our Lord’s Day evangelism is still going on. We have been visiting Orchard Road and Dhoby Ghaut for our evangelism. Recently, as we have moved to Goldhill Plaza, we have added Toa Payoh Town Park for our Sunday noontime evangelism.

Prepare to Meet Thy God

Let us give thanks and praise our Lord for His mercy and kindness. Let us invite as many as we can that they may hear of His free offer of salvation to all. The second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is nearer than we think. Let them and let us prepare to meet our God!

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 24:42–51).
