Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Worship Service!

Praise God for His mercy and grace to the Boholanos. More than three years ago, as the Lord opened the door for the gospel to be preached in the island of Bohol, there was a doubt in my heart. I did not trust the power of the gospel and God’s grace to save but rather saw the hardness of the hearts of the people. Being born and raised in Bohol, I am well acquainted with how the people are so idolatrous and superstitious that I thought it will take more than a decade for one to confess faith in Christ Jesus.

The Lord proved me wrong! His power to save is not dependent on the hardness of the people’s hearts but on His grace and mercy. I confessed and repented of my unbelief in His goodness to bring a person into light. Similarly, I can exclaim the same words with Paul saying, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” (Romans 11:33–36).

As I stepped into Bohol this time, there was no more doubt but a light of hope and a renewed zeal to be used of God for His name’s sake. After more than 3 years of sowing the gospel in this stony island of Bohol, few seeds fell into good ground. The Gudarido family (Dexter and Darisa with their children, Dexenne Marie, Danica Rose, Daryl Vence Ivan and Dexie Mae) and Maria Padillo obeyed God’s command as they submitted themselves to water baptism. Romeo Baay and Margie Abalos transferred their memberships from their charismatic churches. Indeed, the Lord is good. Praise be to His holy Name!

Below is a letter of thanksgiving from Pr Rodolfo Gayon and Sis Jenerose Sagayoc who are labouring for the Lord in Trinidad Bible-Presbyterian Church. The Lord by His providence called them to serve there and granted them endurance to face the many challenges in the ministry in Bohol. God is good to them and to the Boholanos. It is our prayer that the Lord will use them there to continue the work of God in saving souls and strengthening the saints. - JTGL

Thanksgiving Letter from Trinidad BPC, Bohol, Philippines

The Trinidad BPC family is grateful to the Lord for the successful church anniversary on the 18th of December 2022. We thank God for His abounding provision. First, for providing the needs, second for bringing the people to hear God’s Word and finally the baptism and the transfer of membership that we had.

First, the needs. We thank God for True-Life Bible-Presbyterian Church and Filipino Bible Fellowship for supporting us by extending their financial blessings and most especially for their prayers. “ … The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” James 5:16b. Without the wholehearted support and prayers of the True Life BPC brethren, the Lord would not have made the event possible as we know that the people here in Bohol, specifically here in Trinidad, are very devoted Roman Catholics. We believe that the ministry here exists because God uses us all in the church as His instruments and vessels. We thank you for not forsaking us as your missionaries.

Secondly, we thank God for the people who responded to our invitations. Please continue to pray for them that they will not harden their hearts. We believe in the Sovereignty of God, that God will not cause them to come without a purpose. God has a perfect plan for them, especially for their salvation. Please continue to pray that if not all, some of them who attended will be convicted as they hear the Word of God and that their hearts will be softened and respond to the call of salvation. In connection with this, please pray for us here to keep our testimonies clean and to be zealous in the work while He is still using us.

Finally, we are thankful that God’s hands are working in this place. He is working in the lives of these people who committed their lives to water baptism and transfer of membership. We pray that God will preserve them despite the expected persecution that they will surely face from their family and friends. Pray for them to look only to Jesus as their God and Saviour. As Matthew 16:24 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

All in all, we give thanks for all the wondrous things that God has done here in Trinidad, Bohol. All the glory belongs to Him alone.
