Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!

As we start the New Year 2023, let us recall the abounding blessings that God has given us. The highlights and activities listed are but a glimpse of His goodness and love unto us. How the Lord provided for the needs of the workers in a number of mission stations in the Philippines is an undeniable display of the favour the Lord has given us. Let us not forget to thank Him for all these blessings. Let us not forget to acknowledge that without Him, we have not done anything and we cannot do anything. “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” (Psalm 127:1). He is the source of all these, and He is worthy of our worship and honour.

However, let us be mindful that whatever praise and thanksgiving we do, if our hearts are not right with Him, He will not hear us. All the sacrifices from our lips are in vain if our hearts are stained with sins and transgressions. Let us confess our sins before Him, for He will only accept the praise of those who truly come before Him with clean hands and pure hearts. “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation” (Psalm 24:3–5).

We can only be used as instruments and vessels of God’s blessings to our countrymen and our country, if we are made worthy to do so. Remember the millions of struggling Filipinos because of calamities and disasters whom the Lord brought into our country because of the idolatrous and superstitious beliefs. There is rejection of the living and true God in our country and all these tribulations and crisis our people are facing is a loud and clear call of God for us to repent of our false beliefs.

You and I, who know the scriptures, must strive to bring this same Word of truth we received to our people. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16–17). The Philippines does not need technology to prosper. The people needs Biblical theology to be right with God. They need not economic gurus to lift our country into prosperity. What they need are Bible preachers who will bring our people genuine contentment in eternal security. They need not the highly-educated intellectuals to bring advancements, but they need lowly-spirited Bible-believing individuals to show the people the way of salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. – Bro Jose.
