Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!

Two weeks from now will be the Resurrection Sunday! May I remind everyone to invite your relatives and friends to come on April 4 to hear the good news of the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We shall also witness our two sisters Erma and Gina submit themselves to the Sacrament of Baptism.

We praise and thank the LORD for involving the FilBF in the training of lay pastors in Mindanao few years back. The program was known as Bible Equipping Seminar and Training (BEST). It was a Bible-centered, thus Christ-centered, program that sought to equip those who are serving in pastoral roles in churches but have not undergone any formal theological training from a Bible College, School or Seminary. Since many of them have no sound theological stand due to their lack of opportunities to learn, they become easy preys to charismatic confusions, ecumenical deceptions and other modernistic church seductions.

From December 2016 to December 2018, there were a total of eight sessions teaching Systematic Theology in Cebuano dialect. Each session covers a week of 16 hours of lectures, reading logs and a final examination. There were 19 lay pastors who successfully finished the program. There was a plan to continue the program to study the Life of Christ as the next module. However, the program was stopped. There were inquiries made by the pastors, prompting them to petition the church with a summary letter kindly written by Dr Einstine Opiso. Please find below the letter summarizing the intentions of the BEST participants:

Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo

Pastor, True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church, Singapore

Subject: Petition Letter to Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo to continue the BEST program

Dear Dr Khoo,

Greetings in the blessed name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

First of all, we praise and thank our Almighty God above all for the Bible Equipping, Seminar and Training (BEST) because we are so blessed with the spiritual nourishment that we gained. We learned so much spiritual truths with regards to our subject study on systematic Theology based on the Reformed and Premillennial Tradition (by Timothy Tow and Jeffrey Khoo). We really praise and thank God for enabling Dr Jose Trinipilo G Lagapa to teach us faithfully from God’s Word under this subject and for his patience, sacrifice and labour of love he extended unto us through his time, energy and effort. Lastly, we praise and thank God for sustaining BEST by using True Life BPC through their prayers and financial support.

Under the BEST program, the in-depth study of God’s precious, inspired and preserved, holy Word really helped us lay pastors and teachers in improving ad enhancing our preaching and teaching ministry in our respective churches and how we must remain true and faithful to HIM especially in the midst of compromise and apostasy. In this connection, it is our desires and prayers to God that this BEST program will be continued for there is still so much to learn from God’s infallible and inerrant Holy Word which are needful for our ministry in these last days. Hence, we would like to humbly request True Life BPC under your leadership that you continue to support the BEST program which will be administered to us by Dr Jose Lagapa.

May the Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you and to be a blessing unto others especially to the household of faith.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

BEST Participants

Signed on behalf of BEST Participants:

Since some of the participants can cope with the English medium of instruction, they continue to learn through the online courses of the Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC) with the generous support of the True Life BPC for their school fees. Currently, there are 8 of them taking the online and livestream courses of FEBC. However, majority of the participants earned only the primary school level education where listening, reading and writing English are not easy for them. Nevertheless, they kept on asking whether the BEST program will continue. We are supporting a few of them who planted their own churches. Since they could not continue their studies from FEBC, their desire to continue on learning moved me to seek the Lord’s leading regarding their plight.

With the present situation, it is impossible to fly to and from the Philippines to teach them. The only means that the Lord shows is through online teaching in the Cebuano dialect. There are 6 lay pastors who are ready and willing to study online. Since they do not have the computer skills, this online program could possibly be done using their smart phones in downloading and viewing the lectures.

There are still many unexplored possibilities and so your prayers regarding this is sincerely requested. In fact, we are praying that we can also hold Bible classes for our members in the FilBF every Sunday afternoon so you can be equipped in the knowledge of the Bible. The Lord can use you when you go back to your respective hometowns. There are many Filipinos taking courses like baking or tailoring during Sundays. To train you as Bible teachers for children and women folks is the best course you can take. The Lord can prepare you to be His missionaries to reach out for souls. The profit is far greater for these souls shall enter into God’s Kingdom to live forever and ever. In fact, you know already how one soul is far more valuable than the riches of the whole world. It will just take you few hours every Sunday to attend classes here in Godhill, Lord willing.

By the way, since this is no more a seminar, the name of the program should be changed to Bible Equipping School of Theology (BEST). Since it is an online school taught in Tagalog or Cebuano dialect, we might be offering certificates to those who earn enough unit credits such as Certificate in Ministry or Diploma in Ministry. We have Filipino graduates from FEBC who can help us teach in our language or dialect. We are hopeful that the Lord will open the door for us. Well, these are concerns we should pray for. God bless! – Bro Jose
