Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!

The Lord be praised and honoured for His grace and mercy upon the Christian Bible Fellowship (CBF) on its 1st Anniversary Thanksgiving. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified” (Romans 8:28–30). – Bro Jose

FEBC – TLBPC FilBF - CBF Testimony

Jose Trinipil Lagapa

God started the CBF. It is His marvellous plan and it was never anyone’s plan to be involved in this great work of God. How it began freshens my memories back to January 2016. It was no more a requirement for me to join the Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC) Wednesday evangelism. But having seen no true conversion for the past 6 years of evangelism (since 2009), the Lord moved me to continue joining that semester. The first evangelism session was in Block 124, Pending Road, Bukit Panjang. One of the students called my attention that they met a Filipina. I went to talk to her and thank God that she speaks in our Cebuano dialect. The Lord guided me to explain the Gospel to her, she is Mary Vesper Igot!

The next time we did follow up with her but she was not around. Instead, I met and talked to her little sister and explained the gospel to Camille Dorothy Igot. As there was a coming VBS in June 2016, I went several times with my wife to invite Camille but nobody answered the door. Then finally one Sunday afternoon, God arranged that we could invite Camille for the True Life BPC VBS. At home was a very hospitable and kind gentleman and he invited us inside. We explained to him about the VBS and everything for Camille’s invitation but sadly I failed to share the gospel to Engr Deccarlo Igot! Convicted of my failure we attempted again several times to visit him but I was never able to talk to him again. I was just surprised on one evening few weeks after the VBS that Carlo called me to explain why Camille did not join. She got Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease! During that conversation, an invitation was extended for him to come and join the Filipino Bible Fellowship (FilBF) which was to start on July 2016. He did not come during the first meeting but God surprised us when He brought Brother Carlo to our second FilBF meeting in August 2016. From that time on, I needed not to remind Carlo of every Lord’s Day, he is with us! Later, God brought Bro Jude Gabales into our midst.

When Bros Carlo and Jude went back to Cebu for Vesper’s wedding they zealously evangelized their relatives, so much so that most of Bro Carlo’s siblings believed. Being far from Gethsemane BPC in Cebu City, I was not careful to entrust them to the Church of Christ which was willing to help them. It was later found out that their doctrines are unbiblical and teach a false gospel of works rather than faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. We started a monthly Bible Study with Carlo’s siblings to correct the wrong doctrines that they received, but it did not do much. With a repentant heart for the grave mistake done, a burden was laid to encourage Bro Carlo and Jude to start FilBF-type of meeting in Mactan to teach the right teachings from the Scriptures believing that whom God had graciously granted the true faith will come.

On October 28, 2018, the commemoration of the 16th Century Reformation, was the Lord’s Day where we commenced Christ’s witness in Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu through the Christian Bible Fellowship (CBF). The CBF is now having every Lord’s Day worship services/Bible study meetings. We thank the Lord for the children who came for the VBS and about half are now coming to attend the Sunday School.

God started the CBF. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:6).

A Gospel Door Opened

Rev Reggor Galarpe

Gethsemane BPC-Cebu City, Philippines

All praise and glory be to the Lord of the harvest for the 1st Anniversary of True Life BPC’s gospel outreach, the Christian Bible Fellowship (CBF) here in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu!

When our brother, Dr Jose Lagapa shared with us the burden that the Lord impressed upon him to establish a missions station in this part of Cebu, I received it with joy and gladness looking forward to seeing another gospel work and a Bible-Presbyterian witness in a country that is deep into idol worship and false religion.

That initial joy and gladness even grew when I was given the opportunity to serve alongside our brothers from the Filipino Bible Fellowship (Singapore) in the ministry of the Word. I was reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul;“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14)

I remember the very first time I came to preach I brought along with me some of our church members to present a song item to encourage the people gathered to hear the Gospel. Thereafter, I have been praying of how best I could minister looking forward to every first Lord’s Day of each month to come not only to preach but also to pray and fellowship with the brethren.

Praise God for this opened door! I pray that the Lord will bless the work with faithful laborers and with a fruitful harvest of souls for the glory of God!
