True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church

On Sundays at 3pm. Please contact Bro Jose Lagapa: 81853623 anytime.

Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!

The FilBF is a ministry of True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church. Although we are Bible-Presbyterians, we do not lift a banner showing off our denomination. We hold high and wave the LORD as our banner — JEHOVAHNISSI (Exodus 17:15). We point everyone to the Lord Jesus Christ Who is “the way, the truth, and the life” for no man comes to the Father, but by Him alone! (John 14:6). We are thankful to the Lord for the doctrines of the Bible-Presbyterian Church which are truly Biblical, the apostolic teachings that revived the Church in the 16th century Reformation. These were kept hidden for hundreds of years under the dark age of the Roman Catholic Church’s dominion. John Calvin’s expositions of the Scriptures are taught in our church as well as here in our fellowship. As our founding Pastor had stated, “Calvinism is Paulinism systematized,” meaning Calvin’s teachings are the very teachings of the Apostle Paul.

Nonetheless, we understand the brotherhood of all genuine believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. As long as they stand square with the inerrant and infallible Word of God. Jesus said, “…he that is not against us is for us” (Luke 9:50). So we follow the good tradition set by our founding Pastor, the Rev Timothy Tow based on the Lord’s teaching. Take note of this excerpt from his book, “The Singapore B-P Story,”

Through the ICCC the pastor (Rev Tow) and his wife began to be invited to Manila in 1985, first to teach at Rev Ormeo’s Bible Institute and then at the Dan Ebert School for graduates.

In the course of years we became more involved in the work of their graduates, who became pastors of small congregations. Small because they had no bigger place to worship than in private homes. This gave rise to Life Church’s burden to help three young pastors build three churches. The first one involved also the acquisition of government land. All in all we gave a quarter million to build these three churches. When American Baptists heard that Bible-Presbyterians of Singapore had built three Filipino Baptist Churches, they were amazed. This is possible by John Sung’s more liberal view on baptism, “More faith less water, Less faith, more water.” “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel” (1 Cor. 1:17). To Lifers, the Baptist doctrine of immersion does not hamper us in the advancement of missions.” (pp 207–208).

New Camiling Fundamental Baptist Church Lord’s Day Service

If the Bible-Presbyterians of Singapore have the heart for the Filipino believers in the Philippines, how much more for the Bible-Presbyterian Filipinos in Singapore? We thank the Lord that although our fellowship have nothing by the world’s standard, the Lord multiplies the little funds we have which you have cheerfully given for His glory and honor. Last year, the New Camiling Fundamental Baptist Church in Valencia City, Bukidnon, was erected with the initial fund from the True Life BPC-FilBF funds. This year, the Lord led us to extend help to Lunao Fundamental Baptist Church in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. Few years back, a strong typhoon damaged their church which is located just meters away from the sea shore. The pastor of this church, Rod-rey Suguipit was with the Bible Equipping Seminar and Training (BEST) and is now continuing his studies through the Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC) online course.

These two projects are located in Mindanao, please pray with our leaders in the FilBF and the support from the session of True Life BPC that we can acquire a church lot and building for the Christian Bible Fellowship (CBF) in Cebu (Visayas) next year. Slowly but surely in the Lord, in accordance to His will, may He grant us not only mission stations in Mindanao and Visayas but also in Luzon in the years to come!

Pastor Suguipit giving testimony at the start of construction

God’s Word commands, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith” (Galatians 6:9–10). “For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth” (3 John 3–8, underlines mine).

The ongoing construction!

God forbid that these physical building projects will cause us to be sidetracked. These are just peripheral things of the main focus of our existence as witnesses for Christ and that is “to conquer sinners and comfort saints” fulfilling the Great Commission — “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18–20). While it is the Lord’s plan and purpose that we came here to Singapore “who knoweth whether thou art come… for such a time as this?” May the Lord grant us the joy of serving Him for He has already granted us a blessed assurance of life forever in His kingdom! – Bro Jose
