Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!

The busiest month of the year for many of our FilBF members is May. Aside from the graduation of FEBC, many are involved with the True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church – Philippine Bible Ministries’ Vacation Bible School. This annual ministry during May, teaches the children the Word of God, Christian hymns and spiritual songs, with related art and crafts. The main theme of this year’s VBS is “Come to the Saviour!” taken from Matthew 19:14. This year, the estimated number of children to be ministered is over 3000 children from more than 20 churches and outreaches.

We thank the Lord that the FilBF is not only involved in evangelizing the Filipinos here in Singapore but we have also missions stations in the Philippines to reach out our countrymen for Christ. Most of the Filipinos we minister here are just transient, and they have to go back to the Philippines. It is equally important that we plant truly Bible-believing churches in our country because the people there are permanently residing. The Vacation Bible School helps in reaching out new generations of believers who will be the future leaders and members of the local congregations.

Praise God for True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church which the Lord uses to provide spiritual guidance and financial support of the Philippines Bible Ministries’ Vacation Bible School. It is encouraging that they have also the burden for the souls in our country, especially the children. We thank God for our Pastor, The Rev Dr Jeffrey Khoo, whom God gives a heart for missions. The VBS’s of the church are not only conducted in the Philippines but also here in Singapore and other countries such as China, Japan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar and others.

The Vacation Bible School is a three-day activity for our young people. It includes the kindergartens, lower primaries, upper primaries and this year we introduce the teens’ class. This is following the steps of True Life BPC’s VBS which opens a class for our teenagers. This is the Lord’s doing as we heard an encouraging feedback from our brother in the Philippines who is teaching the Sunday School for teens that this is truly needful for the teenagers in the Philippines who become victims of drug addiction and fornication.

The theme focuses on inviting the children and teens to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. “…Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). There are five salvation events taken from the Book of Acts that present the five solas of the 16th CenturyReformation, “Sola Gratia,” “Sola Fide,” “Solus Christus,” “Sola Scriptura” and “Soli Deo Gloria!” (By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone according to the scriptures alone, for the glory of God alone!).

The task that we are facing seems so gigantic. Three thousand or more children is not an easy work. From the preparation of materials until the implementation of the VBS, the work is never easy. However, the Lord is so good to provide us wisdom and strength to do them. He never forsakes His labourers. The Lord so graciously granted everything for this VBS. Truly, we can say our God is “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

Please do pray for the teachers, and other volunteers of this VBS! May the Lord grant us safe journey back to the Philippines early tomorrow morning. Some of them will go first to Cebu, another team to Gingoog City and another to Bukidnon via Davao. You may not be able to go with the team but you are a part of this ministry because you pray and you have given your substance to help this VBS. In the end when God is glorified we all are partakers of His heavenly welcome “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:21, 23).

By the way, some churches whose VBS teachers have undergone the training last December did already their VBS’s (photos shown above). These churches are in Guinoyoran, New Camiling and Baungon Fundamental Baptist churches. They have submitted some photos of their VBS’s which is published here for your encouragement to continue praying for this ministry. – Bro Jose
