Back to 2019 Filipino Bible Fellowship Weekly List

True Life Bible-Presbyterian Church

On Sundays at 3pm. Please contact Bro Jose Lagapa: 81853623 anytime.

Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!

As we start the New Year it is good to recall of the many blessings we received from the Lord. These blessings should remind us of His lovingkindness unto us, that is why we should be contented in Him alone! Let us not make our own crowns and pat our own backs for what the Lord enabled us to do. Pastor reminded us on the Watchnight service that we be like David who penned this psalm, “Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.” (Psalm 63:3–6). – Bro Jose.

Filipino Bible Fellowship (FilBF) – 2018 Report

The Filipino Bible Fellowship (FilBF) is a ministry of True Life Bible Presbyterian Church (TLBPC) and meets at 3 pm every Lord’s Day. The meeting commences with a time of prayer. The meeting proper begins at 3 and ends at about 4:30 pm. After the meeting, there is a 15-minute long “bitesize” Bible lesson dubbed “Nuggets of Wisdom” (NOW). This is followed by light refreshments.

The meeting was held in the Upper Room until we moved to Godhill on 7th October when our pastor directed us to change to a bigger and more accessible venue. This new place opens a greater vision for FilBF to reach out even more of the Filipinos who are working here in Singapore that they may know the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The fellowship continues to aim for God’s glory through the centrality of God’s Word to nurture the spiritual growth of Filipino Christians who attend the meetings and to evangelize those who are still outside of God’s Kingdom. We believe in the Biblical principle just as what the Lord showed in the early church “… the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly…” (Acts 6:7). The Lord helps us that His Word will have the preeminence in every part of our ministry.

FilBF Evangelism at Toa Payoh Town Park

The FilBF evangelistic band goes to Orchard road area and recently to Toa Payoh Town Park on Sundays (12:30–1:30 pm) to distribute tracts and share the Gospel to fellow Filipinos. Although, the response based on those who come to the fellowship may seem insignificant, it is the joy of the members to glorify the name of Christ through the teaching of the way of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ, and alone, according to the Scriptures alone for the glory of God alone! Week after week, the FilBF Band finds it a worthwhile endeavor to make Him known among those who are still blinded by sin. We pray that God will be gracious and merciful to open their eyes for them to see the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ which “is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth… (Romans 1:16).

The Lord’s name be praised for 7 who confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and attended the Catechism. They were baptized on Easter Sunday, 2018. Please pray for them that they may hunger for God’s Word and that they may mature in the faith. In His perfect time they will be able to minister others.

Pastor Jeffrey Khoo preached to us during the “FilBF Meets the Session” service on 7th January and the 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service cum Gospel Meeting on 29th July. We thank the Lord for the boundless support of the TLBPC session and members to the FilBF. On 23rd December, a Christmas Gospel Meeting was held in Godhill. The Lord brought some newcomers and supporting members from TLBPC.

Others who co-laboured with Bro Jose Lagapa in the preaching of God’s Word were Rev Reggor Galarpe, Pastor Renato Cortez, Elder Douglas Ho, Preacher Dennis Kabingue and Bro Samuel Goh. Thank the Lord Who provides our pulpit with messengers who are faithful to the doctrines of the inspiration and preservation of God’s Word especially in these days of unbelief and apostasy. The messages are being continued from the book study of the Gospel of Matthew.

A missions outreach, Christian Bible Fellowship (CBF), started on 28th October in Lapu-lapu City, Cebu, Philippines. The Bible study meetings were conducted by Brothers Deccarlo Igot, Jude Gabales, and Stephen Gillegao in AA Restaurant, Lapu-Lapu City until December 23. The fellowship is now renting an apartment (SGD 260/month) for the regular venue of the Sunday meetings, future VBS, and other ministries. This is much better than the SGD 100/Sunday at the restaurant. It serves also as a place to stay for TLBPC and FilBF members who may go to Cebu or transit via Cebu. Please pray for this missions work that souls will be saved and for a regular preacher to minister them.

The fellowship is still supporting one student in FEBC, Jenerose Sagayoc. She is now in her second year of studies. Please pray for her. FilBF also helped in constructing a church building for New Camiling Fundamental Baptist Church in Valencia City, Bukidnon. Although it is not yet fully completed, Pastor Rene Morales and the congregation are already using the church building for their Lord’s Day worship. Praise God for His provisions!

We are most thankful to God for answering our prayers in response to His command “…The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37–38). The Lord called Bro Deccarlo Igot to full time study in FEBC starting January 2019. May the Lord call more labourers! – Bro Jose.
