WE VALUE PRAYER
1 Thessalonians 5:17 commands us to “pray without ceasing,” and Jesus said, “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1).
As Bible-Presbyterians, we value prayer deeply. We pray personally in our daily devotions, and the Read, Pray, Grow (RPG) booklet helps guide us in this. We also pray corporately during our weekly church prayer meetings held every Friday evening.
Our founding pastor, the late Rev Dr Timothy Tow, once said, “United prayer is like burning charcoal. More prayer, more power; less prayer, less power.” James 5:16 says, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
This emphasis on prayer in the lives of Bible-believing and Bible-defending separatists is noted in The Oxford Handbook of Christian Fundamentalism, edited by Andrew Atherstone and David Ceri Jones (Oxford University Press, 2023):
“Fundamentalists not only valued personal but also corporate prayer… Timothy Tow, founder in 1955 of the separatist Bible-Presbyterian Church of Singapore and in 1962 of the Far Eastern Bible College, also recognized the necessity for developing mid-week prayer meetings. His structure allocated thirty minutes to singing and Bible study, thirty minutes to testimonies and praise, and thirty minutes to prayer, often focusing on the needs for evangelism.”
This good old tradition of prayer handed down from our founding pastor continues to this day. Our prayer meetings remain a blessed time of meditation, praise, and intercession.
Join us every Friday night—in person or online. Better still, come and pray together with 40 or 50 others at Godhill, 7.45-9.15 pm. “Here members are drawn closer together… Like burning charcoal heaped together the spirit of prayer is become warmer.” (Pastor Tow). JK

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2025
Rev Samuel Joseph
The Vacation Bible School was held this year from 4-6 June 2025. By the grace of God, about 50 children attended, spread over four departments (Preschool, Lowers, Uppers, and Teens). A total of about 50 volunteers helped out as HODs, teachers, class assistants, and musicians, as well as planning and coordinating the crafts, registration, logistics, games, and food.
After registration, the children had a time of singspiration followed by lessons, crafts, games, and fellowship over meals. The theme of the VBS this year was “The Kingdom of God Is Like…” ‒ the aim of the VBS was to instruct the children concerning the kingdom of God, using the parables of the Lord found in Matthew 13. Our prayer was for all the children to enter the kingdom of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and to grow and serve the Lord in His kingdom.
On the last day was the VBS night programme, meant to involve the parents of the children as well. The lessons were summarised and the gospel message preached, with the prayer that both children and parents will believe in the Lord Jesus and be saved. The children also presented items in their various departments to show the lessons they had learned. After the VBS night, parents, children, and volunteers enjoyed warm fellowship over refreshments.
Praise God for seeing us through the VBS this year. Please pray for strength and enabling for the VBS next year (planning is set to begin once again around December), if the Lord tarries!
SOLAR ELECTRICITY AT NLSC
Bro Thangno
By the grace of God, and through your prayers and cheerful love gifts, we at New Life Student Centre (NLSC) are doing well to this day. Praise God!
We thank God that the government school reopened yesterday, on 2 June 2025. All the students are very happy to return to school and are enjoying their lessons.
We also thank God for the solar electric system that was installed at NLSC today. We are very happy and thankful to the Lord, and to True Life BPC and the Session, for the love gift that made this much-needed installation possible. Now, we will have lights at all times, and we are able to use electricity for cooking, the fans, freezer, and more. I have sent photos along with this letter.
[4 June 2025] I would like to share with you how useful the solar electricity has been. Today, the government electricity was cut off from 10 am to 6 pm—almost the whole day. But we were able to use our own solar electricity throughout. The government power came back on at 6 pm, but it was cut off again at 9 pm. I do not know when it will come on again. Now, even when the government electricity is cut off, we have solar electricity—and we have the power and the light to do all the work we need to do.
Once again, we are especially thankful for your support and the provision of solar electricity. To God be the glory!
We at NLSC continue to pray for you, for True Life BPC, and for FEBC always.
