To True Life B-P Church
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I enjoy your kindness to send me your church weekly every time. I can enjoy to read your precious news every time through your weekly.
I enjoy to tell you that though I became 83 years old, I can walk without a stick every time. I can walk up the mountain still twice a week. I don’t need medicine and I don’t go to doctors also. I go to the eye clinic and dentist for check-up a few times a year.
It is a surprise for us that the world has changed. When I was young I went to an American missionary’s house to study English. Then Rev Samuel Boyle told me that the earth will end by fire. When God’s predestinated people are full, then the end-time of earth will come. Now our earth seasons have changed. We are in trouble as the book tells us. Anyway I have been praying for our own church and our brothers and sisters in Christ.
I sent you some copies of my evangelistic pictures. Still I write the Bible verses on my windows and veranda. Many Japanese do not know the end of the earth. We have no powerful church in Japan. It is sad.
May God bless the Church next year also.

Dear Dr Khoo
Now we are approaching end of this year and I remember your love in Christ for this mission field. I just testify God’s goodness and you are the very channel of God’s blessing to many in this field. Thank you. Last week I finished Vacation Bible School. It was a joyful occasion to interact with children in different mission stations and to share the gospel. Now I am back in BCEA and preparing for Christmas. As we sing songs of Christmas, we remember how God loved us. I wish you merry Christmas and happy New Year. May the Lord be with you with heavenly peace. Thank you.

Dear Pastor Jeffrey,
Greetings in the blessed name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and happy new year 2017 to you and your family and True Life BPC and FEBC. We greatly give thanks to God for His grace, mercy, care, goodness and protection to us in 2016 and God is truly so good to all of us here and there. Praise God.
God provided our (NLOC’s) daily needs through True Life BPC and we thank God and True Life BPC too because our daily needs and other needs are really provided from True Life BPC. May God bless True Life BPC more for His glory and His name’s sake and His kingdom.
This Christmas 25.12.2016 and New Year 1.1.2017, I preached the love of God to all the children. By only the grace of God, most of the children received Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. On the night of 1.1.2017, in the service, most of the children declared that they believed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. They gave testimonies that they are saved by the blood of Jesus and they have assurance of life.
I am very happy and thankful to the Lord that most of the children are saved. My tears are coming out when I heard their testimonies because it is very wonderful and amazing for me. I and my wife’s greatest aim, goal and prayer is that all the children receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Now most of the children are saved and have assurance of life. To God be the glory.
As we are faithful to serve the Lord, may He be pleased to lead us to trust in Him more and to obey His words according to His will for His glory.
I and my family and all the children always pray for you and for True Life BPC and FEBC without ceasing.
Yours in Christ,
Brother Thang No

Revising the Vietnamese Bible
Thanks to the sound theological training in biblical theology and the original languages, I have desired for a more accurate Bible for the Vietnamese people based on the traditional Hebrew Masoretic Text and the Greek Textus Receptus and the King James Bible (KJB). By God’s grace and help, I could complete my ThM thesis on “The Vietnamese New Testament Examined under the Greek Textus Receptus and the King James Bible.” However, who is able to help publish the Vietnamese Bible? The United Bible Societies and other Bible Societies do not have a high view of the KJB, so I usually think about the Trinitarian Bible Society (TBS).
In 2007 I met a staff of the TBS who lived in Queensland. I expressed my desire to him and asked him to send my thesis to the TBS, but there was no response. Then, two months ago in October 2016, the Rev David Silversides came to Brisbane to speak about the KJB at St John’s Presbyterian Church where we rent for Brisbane BPC. I called Dr Jeffrey Khoo to know more about the speaker, and he encouraged us to attend. We also prayed for the opportunity to talk to the Rev Silversides about translating and publishing the Vietnamese New Testament based on my thesis. Thank God that the Rev Silversides encouraged me to send my thesis to him and he would forward it to the TBS Committee. I thank God that the TBS contacted me and sent me some documents and forms to fill out to see if I am qualified for the translation work. I also thank God for Dr Jeffrey Khoo’s encouragement that I start work on the Vietnamese Bible immediately trusting in God alone.
So far there are several new Vietnamese Bible versions translated by some Vietnamese pastors with their DMin or PhD, but sadly, none of these versions are based on the Traditional and Received Texts of the KJB. Seeing the necessity for me to earn a doctoral degree to enhance my translation work, I called Dr Jeffrey Khoo to ask if translating the Vietnamese Old Testament based on the Hebrew Masoretic Text of the KJB could qualify as a doctoral dissertation. Since I am currently pastoring two churches and cannot leave the ministry, Dr Khoo encouraged me to apply for the in-ministry Doctor of Religious Education (DRE) programme. God willing and by God’s grace, I shall join this programme which starts in January 2017. May God’s will be done and His Word magnified.
Rev Nguyen Gia Hien
[Ed: The General Committee of the Trinitarian Bible Society (TBS) on 20 December 2016 approved the recommendation of the Rev Nguyen Gia Hien to revise the Vietnamese Bible of 1925 to make it conform to the Hebrew Masoretic Text and Greek Textus Receptus underlying the KJV.]
