Dear Brethren and Friends,
Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!
Our God is indeed ever faithful to His children. It is a shame though that we as children keep on failing Him. We should strive to live for His glory and honour. We have received so much from Him, He gives us life and as believers He even gives us eternal life. What more shall we ask from Him and why are we so ungrateful to Him that we keep on displeasing Him? We must resolve to serve Him with clean hands and pure hearts!
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32). He is not only pouring His spiritual blessings, God also satisfies His children with abundant temporal favours. Today, we have FilBF members who will graduate from Far Eastern Bible College (FEBC). It is by the grace of God that they will receive certificates from FEBC. We should give unto the Lord the praise and adoration for He alone grants them success after years of enabling them to toil and work hard. God supplies their needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:9).
Aprilaiza is one of those who will graduate today. Let us pray for her as she desires to co-labour with us in our plan to translate the RPG and hymns for the use of our countrymen in the Philippines, those who are working here in Singapore and other parts of the world. This is a big task and we cannot do a bit if God is not opening the door for us. Let us join together to seek the Lord’s will whether this is His plan for us to embark such a project. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5–6) — Bro Jose

Serve the Lord
God’s calling for me is not only to study in FEBC but also to be a part of the Filipino Bible Fellowship. FEBC and this fellowship have become my families here in Singapore where I am guided and reminded to live a life as a good example to follow. I am not a perfect person, I am just a sinner saved by grace. But through this fellowship I was given a chance to labour on for Christ.
When I came to Singapore supported by True Life BPC, the FilBF before was named as a Filipino Bible Study and they met in RELC every Sunday to learn God’s Word together. It was just a small group of Filipinas, and I was not active those times. However, through God’s leading the Filipino Bible Study was changed to Filipino Bible Fellowship. I was there at the start and have seen many people come and go. This fellowship also helped me to see how hard it is to serve God having met many of the Filipinos who came just for some other purposes. Even so, I am blessed to be a part of FilBF family because this is one avenue where God caused my faith to grow. I found Christian friends whom I can freely talk to about my struggles and difficulties. It is here also that I have someone to pray with me and whom I can pray together with too.
In FEBC and FilBF, I was able to serve God through evangelism. I joined FilBF to go to Orchard road, Dhoby Ghaut, and Toa Payoh to evangelize. From 2015 until now, I can only count those people whom God brought into our midst through the Evangelistic band. Honestly, I became sad many times that people we invited would not come to join our fellowship. In fact, there were times that I was very discouraged to join the evangelism. Although, I know that salvation belongs to the Lord, even for a soul to join the fellowship, belongs to the Lord alone. I know I was wrong in reacting that way because God knows who are His and who are not. Nevertheless, there is pain in my heart because not only do they not want to come to our fellowship but it is very hard for them to believe in Jesus.
Every time I walked heading to a place for evangelism, what I can see are lost souls. They are very lost spiritually and how I wished to grab them and bring to our fellowship and tie them on the chair just for them to hear the preaching and believe on Jesus, but of course I cannot do that. I can only pray “Lord lay some souls upon my heart, even one soul, Lord, for me to pray for and to send messages always. It may cost me to top-up more or take time to chat in local chats or messenger, I do not care, just for You to have Your way to save a soul.” Sometimes, I talked to some of them and get their mobile numbers, but Satan also has his ways. When I call those numbers I have collected, it is not ringing, or no one wants to answer. I do not get any reply. I am very discouraged again, I told myself to not get their numbers anymore and neither will I give mine. I was again reminded by the example of Jesus Christ while He was on earth. He was rejected and no one listens to Him yet He continued to preach and teach and was so long-suffering to those who keep following Him even though they only desired the physical food.
Through Jesus’ example, I am again encouraged. I rebuked myself for not loving them. I find it difficult to start a conversation, I once came to a lady sitting seriously and asked her “Hello, do you want to go to heaven?” she replied me angrily. I was terrified of her response, but of course I am not wrong to ask her that way because it is the truth. Even to approach someone to evangelize, I need to pray and ask God for wisdom. It is not easy to evangelize, but it is through the grace of God that I could approach someone and tell them about Jesus. All throughout my four years here, there were many disappointments especially in evangelism, yet through the disappointments, I am also encouraged. I just have to do my part, God told me to preach the gospel, I must do it and let God do the rest.
I also thank God for the opportunity seeing some of these Filipinos who come to our fellowship. Though sometimes they come and some do not want to come back yet God is showing me one important lesson: “there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God” (Romans 3:10–11). This is how sinful and depraved people are. For them Sunday is just a past time, they have forgotten that it is the Lord’s Day. For them, to worship the Lord on Sunday is just a second choice. I hope all of us here is not one of those. Even though how sad the situation is, there are those who truly seek the Lord and love the Lord. I pray to do my best to reach them out. One thing important, that I see and a must for me to do is, when I met a person, I should never lose the chance to share the gospel, it might be my first and last meeting with him or her.
So for those who are serving the Lord here in FilBF, I pray you do your best and never let anybody go out from Godhill without hearing the gospel.
Moreover, it is very important to wear the eye glasses of faith. For this teaches me to see God’s hand leading me everywhere He wants me to go. When He brought me to this fellowship I see some important tasks that God wanted me to do, that is at least, to be an encouragement to some of us. As I leave this fellowship, my prayer to God is that someone would be encouraged to serve the Lord and help in FilBF. It is a blessing to serve the Lord, dear friends, because I am blessed greatly. I have learned many things from here and will keep learning even when I am out there. I pray that God will also use you to be an encouragement to the people around you and serve the Lord with a pure heart.
Many of our countrymen are still lost and cannot find their way to God. Be used by God to search for them and tell them about Jesus Christ, this might be your calling too. I am sure that God brought some of us to join FilBF for a reason. As long as you are here do something for God and never slack. There will be discouragements but never stop telling them about Jesus. This I understood that God has a great purpose for calling me to serve Him especially in FilBF even for a limited time, it is because the harvest is plenteous but the labourers are few. Be encouraged and serve the Lord, my friends. To God be the glory!
