FILIPINO BIBLE FELLOWSHIP

On Sundays at 3pm. Please contact Bro Jose Lagapa: 81853623 anytime.

Dear Brethren and Friends,

Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!

It is always a joy to recall the Lord’s goodness upon us. As His children, we rejoice together of how He guided and led us through two years. “O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth…” (Psalm 105:1–5)

As we enter another year of ministry, let us be reminded of the words of our Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples. He wants us to remain faithful to Him by obeying His Words. Jesus says in John 15:1–10 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.”

Let us remember what Paul wrote in Colossians 3:1–7. May God deliver us from the temptations to go back to our past life, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.” – Bro Jose

True Life BPC – Filipino Bible Fellowship

Praise and honour be unto our LORD for the unspeakable favour He has blessed us with for the past two years. This fellowship grew out of the Filipino Bible Study of True Life BPC. A monthly meeting started in 2016 and became bi-monthly until a weekly fellowship meeting provided the Filipino workers here in Singapore an avenue where they can know the truth of God’s Word.

The messages in the fellowship meetings are taken from a series of study of the Gospel of Matthew. As many are still young in the faith, the passages are expounded bit by bit for them to easily understand and apply in their lives. The preaching is mainly in English and uses the Filipino language for clarifications and illustrations. The fellowship follows the pattern of a worship service as many of those who attend cannot worship in the morning in True Life BPC.

There are special topics such as the seven “I Am’s” of the Lord Jesus Christ from the Gospel of John by Elder Douglas Ho and the attributes of God by Bro Samuel Goh. Aside from the usual meetings, events such as the Christmas Gospel Meeting on December 24, 2017 and the “Meeting the Church Leaders” service on January 7, 2018 were held. The Christmas Gospel Meeting was held in the Upper Room. It was well attended and the worship included the singing of Christmas carols and the preaching on the message of “The Meaning of Christmas.” The service with the Church leaders was held at FEBC Hall with Pastor giving the message and a good attendance from TLBPC members which encouraged the FilBF. Pastor Renato Cortez, a missionary to the Indigenous tribes in Bukidnon ministered to the FilBF on June 10, 2018.

As time is limited because many of them are domestic helpers and need to rush back to their employer’s house at a certain time, a normal Sunday school program is difficult. Praise God for His wisdom to administer tidbits of Bible lessons given to them for just about 15 minutes after the worship time. This we call as Nuggets of Wisdom or NOW, because they have to do it right away before they leave. A children’s program is administered by Filipino FEBC students in concurrence with the sermon time.

The Lord blessed the fellowship with 7 Catechumens this year who professed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. They underwent a series of Catechism classes in a separate afternoon class after the worship. They were baptized on the Resurrection Sunday morning service of TLBPC on April 1, 2018.

By God’s grace, after the 1st anniversary last year, FilBF members continued to evangelize the Filipino workers on Sundays near Lucky Plaza area, Dhoby Ghaut area and the Toa Payoh Town Park. There are always great opportunities to hand them our Tagalog gospel tracts and talk to them. The Gospel is shared and they are invited to join the Fellowship. There were some of them who came to the fellowship. A number of them came and attended the 2nd FilBF Anniversary last July 29. We thank the Lord for the Filipino FEBC students who are regularly supporting our members in this evangelistic ministry.

Thank God for the FilBF’s willing support to one of our Filipino students in FEBC. A series of Bible studies were conducted also in Cebu to minister the relatives of Bro Deccarlo Igot who evangelized to them resulting in their profession of Christ and abandonment of their Roman Catholicism faith. Recently, the FilBF is providing financial help to the Ambassador’s for Christ (AFC) soul-winning activity in Mindanao, particularly in the province of Bukidnon. The fellowship is also supporting the construction of a church building under a pastor who is amazingly saved and enabled by God though physically disabled for 18 years.

We trust the faithfulness of our God to continue to use the FilBF in the harvest of Filipino souls here in Singapore. We believe the Lord will also use this fellowship to encourage and support ministries and churches in the Philippines. Please pray for us that we remain faithful to the Lord as we desire to continue to the ministry “for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 1:9)!

“Day by day and with each passing moment, Strength I find to meet my trials here; trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment…” the FilBF ladies sung this hymn on our 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving.
