Dear Brethren and Friends,
Welcome to the Filipino Bible Fellowship!
As we look forward to our 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving next Lord’s Day, we cannot but help reflect upon the goodness of the Lord upon us. He has seen us through these past 2 years and blessed us with souls who came to know the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! As the psalmist exclaims, “Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise? Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times. Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation; That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance” (Psalms 106:1–5).
In celebrating the goodness of God, let us make sure that the focus of our anniversary thanksgiving must be to God alone and not in any man nor organization. It is God alone who deserves the glory because He is the One who provides everything for us. Every heart must be attuned to give thanks unto Him and give Him full acknowledgement of His great and mighty works. “O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.” (Psalms 105:1-7).
Our God is faithful. He is faithful in His promises for His own people who labour always for His glory. Let us therefore continue to seek His exaltation. It is only in work that glorifies His name and magnify His word that is worthy of His support. Nothing shall be lacking to them who promote the glory of God in the midst of this wicked world. “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.” (Psalms 34:1–10).
In this weekly bulletin is one of the blessed labours offered to the Lord for His glory and honour. – Bro Jose
Bible Study with Igot & Gabales Family (13 April 2018)
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ! I praise the Lord for His grace and mercy for another blessed time with the Igot’s and my family in the study of the Creation (Genesis 1–2:3) on 13 Apr 2018 at 6pm, Lemco building. This is the second bible study meeting in a series of events whenever the FilBF brothers can return to the Philippines for vacation. It is not just an ordinary vacation, but it is a vacation filled with abundant blessing from God to be imparted to His children.
When I was still outside of God’s Kingdom, I would always return home for a normal, worldly quality time with my family, but time came when changes happened in my life; one which I could not resist. When I accepted the Lord Jesus, I knew that my life would change and it would be to serve the Lord in whatever way I can whenever an opportunity comes to glorify, honour and exalt His name forever. As the Lord commanded in Matthew 28:19–20 to “…teach all nations ...teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world”, we as Christians must continue this Great Commission to propagate the Gospel and also teaching God’s Word “for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim 3:16b–17). When Christ Jesus saved us, and we follow Him faithfully in response to the grace He has given us, we become servants of Christ fully to function under His Will and sovereignty; we become “…a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Before I met with Bro. Carlo’s family, it was a rather hectic schedule for me, my wife and daughter as we had to run errands the whole day to prepare for my daughter’s Moving Up day on 14 Apr 2018. The weather was hot and the traffic was slow. It was energy-consuming. But thank the Lord for He has provided us with sustaining energy to push through with the planned Bible study. There is no other such revitalizing pill than the study of the Word of God! When we all met at the conference room, we started with the opening prayer, followed by the reading of the Scripture text. Since we already learned the basic fundamentals in the previous basic theology lessons last 16 Feb 2018, I continued to explain the story of Creation according to the lessons I learned in the study of the Book of Genesis. After the study, we ended in prayer and gave thanksgiving for the meal provisions prepared and had a blessed fellowship one with another. We still had more than an hour left after the meals so we continued on with the last part which was the sharing of Bible verses including the testimonies. Angelito and Vesper shared their conviction and thanksgiving with the verse in 1 Corinthians 13:2 which I also gave my exposition to that verse. I also shared my testimony with them together with my life verse which is Matthew 11:28–30. Lordan also shared his testimony. In the end, we all had an edifying evening as I concluded the sharing with Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
I thank God for sustaining us with His infinite wisdom, His guidance, His grace, and His mercy for another successful Bible study. May the Lord continue to work in our hearts to share His Words to those who seek for His kingdom, that they may have a dwelling place in His mansion prepared for each one of us! Bro Jude Gabales.
